Cyclone Central
8-17-2018
Thank you for a fantastic start!
It has been an absolute pleasure to start off this school year with all of your children! Thank you to all of our parents, staff members, and community members who have helped to prepare our students for the new year and transition them into new classrooms and routines! If there is anything we can do as a staff to help your child with this on a more individual level, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. We are ready and willing to help your child or your family in any way possible.
To start the year, our staff will be working together to promote our school motto (Center Cyclones CARE) and our school expectations (Be safe. Be responsible. Be respectful.) We ask that you please partner with us by continuing the conversation at home about these messages as well.
It has been fun to meet all of our new kindergarten Cyclones this week! We also have several new adult cyclones who have joined our Center staff. Please read below for information about our newest team members.
Welcome Officer Andrew Duffy - Our SRO
My name is Andrew Duffy. I am the new School Resource Officer(SRO) at Center Elementary school. I have been a police officer since 2011 and have worked for Mayfield Village for the last 5 years. I am excited to take on the task as DARE officer and to begin working closely with the students and staff.
Welcome Haley Jacobson
Hello, my name is Haley Jacobson, and I am the new Kindergarten teacher at Center Elementary! I completed my student teaching in Chicago, Illinois through The Chicago Center for Urban Life and Culture. From there, I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and Dance from Ohio Wesleyan University this past May. While this is my first teaching job, I am eager and ready to create, grow, and learn in this collaborative, and innovative environment. I am so excited to share my experiences, and continue my lifelong learning adventure with Center students, staff, and families!

Medication Reminder
Any student medication, either prescribed or over the counter, to be given during the school day, must:
- Have a physician's permission form on file with the school before the medication is to be given.

Do not send any type of medication to school with your child. If you have any questions, please contact the clinic at 995-7403.

Classroom Interruptions
If you are bringing an item to school that your child has forgotten at home, we request that you sign in the item at the office and leave with it with the secretaries. They will make sure your child receives it. Please do not deliver the item to the classroom yourself. This will cut down on classroom disruptions for students and teachers. Also, if your child is going home an alternative way, please be sure to send a note that morning with your child explaining the change to the teacher. This will cut down on classroom interruptions with telephone messages.
