School of Saint Mary FYI

January 7, 2022

Notes from Mrs. Maricle

1. Illness: Just about everything is going around these days- flu, stomach bug, COVID etc. If your child is not feeling well, please keep them home if possible. We will always support your erring on the side of caution.

2. Open House: Please see flyer below about our Open House next week. This is primarily for incoming Kindergarten and interested families in grades 1-8. This is an adult only event. Please share with anyone looking for a wonderful school home.

3. Active Parishioner Form: Registration for current families for the 22-23 school year has begun. Since it has become difficult to track volunteer hours to the church, we are moving in a different direction for the active parishioner rate. Below is a link to a form that MUST be submitted by January 31st if you want to be considered for the active parishioner rate. This must be completed by Church of Saint Mary families and Catholic families that attend another local parish.

COVID-19 Updates

Updates are in BOLD.

*Week of January 7, 2022-

13 NEW student positives and 0 NEW staff positives

6 cases over break that have never returned to school

5 cases in preschool

2 cases in K-8

The Diocese of Tulsa has published amended policies and procedures that address the new guidelines from the CDC. We will be reviewing the document over the weekend and publish a letter on Monday detailing any amendments that are made to the School of Saint Mary Health and Wellness Guidelines.

*Note: These statistics are for PS-8th Grade.

Policy Change: An amendment has been made to the School of Saint Mary COVID Quarantine Policy that aligns with the Diocese of Tulsa amended policy of no longer mandating quarantines for close contact cases. The SOSM and Diocese of Tulsa policy documents are attached below.

COVID Testing: The Task Force has given approval for families to use either a PCR Test or a Molecular ID Test to return from quarantine. Saint Francis offers a free drive thru clinic that yields results in 24 hours.

Grace and Understanding: This is a gentle reminder that we need to be following in our Heavenly Father's footsteps in giving people grace and understanding during these difficult times with COVID. We field so many calls a day asking for guidance to ensure everyone is doing the right thing. Yes, COVID is real and scary, however, we also have students and staff suffering from seasonal allergies, head colds, pink eye, stomach bugs and various other ailments that could present as COVID. So much is unknown so we need to unite as a community to lift each other up each day and trust that each of us is doing their best for our school.

Note: We want families to be our partners in navigating school during a pandemic. If you have COVID comfort concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child's homeroom teacher. We are doing our very best to make accommodations as we can.

The School of Saint Mary Health and Wellness Plan for 2021-22 is posted below. We want to remind everyone that we review data often and we are committed to our plan being an evolving document based on trends in our area.
