Principal's Message
Dear Dolvin Families –
We had an AMAZING time at the Vocabulary Parade this morning! If you didn’t have a chance to watch it live-streamed (there were glitches with the link sent out this morning), it is available through THIS LINK. Our special guests included Dr. Gyimah Whitaker (FCS Deputy Chief Academics Officer), Johns Creek Mayor John Bradberry, Mr. Trey Martin (Principal of Autrey Mill Middle School), and our District 5 Board Member Kristin McCabe. Mayor Bradberry was our Grand Marshall for the event! Students Jacob Holladay and Quentin Wright were our MC’s while Jayden Cheng was the Lead Tech Producer – three superb student leaders! I couldn’t be any prouder of our Dolvin students – it was so much fun to see PreK to 5th grade showing what they know (and the staff outfits were #DolvINcredible too)!
Teacher of the Year and Professional of the Year
Congratulations to our newest Teacher of the Year, 1st Grade Teacher Katelyn Cameron, and our newest Professional of the Year, Principal’s Secretary/Bookkeeper Denise Fasone! They are two very deserving candidates who I'm proud to have represent Dolvin for the 2023-2024 school year. We are fortunate to have an abundance of individuals who inspire us and do so much for our school community. Finalists for Teacher of the Year included 3rd Grade Teacher Brandy Hogan and Kindergarten Teacher Cynthia Collins. Finalists for Professional of the Year included Head Custodian Ron Catlin, and Curriculum Support Teacher Carrie Halron.

Surveys, Surveys, Surveys

- New Grading Policy Survey – Fulton County Schools is partnering with TNTP, a national education-focused nonprofit, to gather feedback from parents and caregivers about the implementation of the district’s revised grading system. The survey is open from March 6 – 20th. Parents are also invited to participate in an online focus group being held Friday, March 24th, at 9 am. If you are interested in participating, please see the attached letter and sign up through the given QR code.
- As always, you can also provide feedback through our School Satisfaction Survey
FCS Balanced Scorecard
Using the Balanced Scorecard methodology, Fulton can look at system performance from both a short-term and long-term perspective to ensure that students reach their potential year after year. The Balanced Scorecard is divided into four sections: Learning and Growth, Finance, Business Processes, and Stakeholder Input. It can be accessed HERE on the FCS website. See attached “Balanced Scorecard” document for additional information.

PBIS Rewards Program Update From Amber Fisher and Jenn Shaffer
In the Fall of 2022, Dolvin implemented the PBIS Social/Emotional (SEL) Check-In Program through the PBIS Rewards APP. The SEL check allows students to check in throughout the day as needed on how they are feeling. When students enter their PBIS Rewards page they will see a box that give them the option of clicking on calm, stressed, or angry. When a student marks that they are either stressed or angry an alert is sent directly to Mrs. Fisher (school counselor) and Mrs. Shaffer (Administrative Assistant/RTI Coordinator) through both their phones and email. Students have the opportunity to include a note as well when they complete the SEL check to provide more information. All students feeling stressed or angry are checked in on the same day. It is on rare occasions that they are seen the very next day. This allows for students to get support as needed throughout the day. Many of our students checking in are wanting to be heard and express their feelings. Knowing they are being heard and validated can be enough to turn their day around.
