Wauwatosa Montessori School
June 10, 2020
Dear Families:
These last three months have been filled with change and challenge. While the year certainly did not end the way in which we expected or hoped, we still have much to celebrate and look forward to. I want to thank all of our families for their on going support this trimester. Your partnership with our teaching staff has been essential in continuing learning outside of the classroom. While I don't know what the fall will look like yet, I do know that having a supportive community will allow for us to make the best of any and all situations!
Speaking of fall, I want to congratulate our Class of 2020 students and wish them the best of luck in their next chapters of high school and beyond. Our 8th grade students have been role models for so many of our students and have really left their mark on our building through their time at Montessori. In place of our Capstone Night celebration that would normally be a celebration of the 8th graders promotion to high school, we've created this 8th grade Celebration Video for viewing to honor our Wauwatosa Montessori School Class of 2020.
As the weather continues to feel more and more like summer, we hope everyone takes some time to relax, get outside, and enjoy time together. We also encourage all families to keep reading as a part of your daily routine/schedule. Mrs. Berthold has put together some wonderful summer reading information with goals, embedded videos and a flipgrid linked in to help everyone stay connected all summer long! Please bookmark this and engage with us and your reading all summer long! This information is linked above and on the homepage of our school website.
The Tosa Public Library also has summer reading programming. All of their programming will be on Facebook this summer, even if the building is open. New things will be added to the schedule throughout the summer, so they recommend families check out their online calendar on their website (wauwatosalibrary.org) or their Facebook page (facebook.com/tosakids) for more info.
Lastly, trimester 3 progress reports will be accessible online starting Monday, June 15th through our student information system, Infinite Campus. Progress reports will no longer be printed and mailed. To view your child’s progress report, you must activate your Infinite Campus parent portal. Information regarding account activation, setup and forgotten/lost passwords can be found below in the newsletter.
Have a wonderful summer!
Sincerely,
Ashley Imperiale
Principal

Class Information + Materials
Teachers will be inviting students to their virtual classrooms the week of 6/15.
Not-for-credit Elementary and Middle School courses will use the Seesaw learning platform.
Accredited High school courses will use Google Classroom.
Individual emails will go out to families of students signed up for courses that require specific materials by the end of the week of 6/8. This email will give details about pick-up dates, locations, and the process. We will provide most materials in “packs” for those families signed up for specific courses (Art and STEM). Any general materials such as markers, paper, and pencils will be available to pick up all through the summer. These materials will be located at Eisenhower, Roosevelt and Longfellow. Most courses will require minimal materials.
Wauwatosa Summer School Band Information
Our summer school band program will be offered this summer as a digital learning experience via Zoom meetings. This is a great way to encourage your student to keep playing their instrument over the summer and further develop their skills to get them ready for 6th grade band. Current 5th grade band students should sign up for the Elementary Level Band class, which will meet during the first hour period from 8 am to 9:15 am Monday through Thursday. Current 6th, 7th, or 8th Grade students should sign up for the Middle School Band class which meets during the 2nd hour period from 9:20 am to 10:35 am Monday through Thursday. For more information and to register please click on the following link and complete this google form: Summer School Band Google Form Sign Up Link
Technology
To best accommodate ongoing learning for students, families will be allowed to retain their District-issued Chromebooks over the summer. District-issued Chromebooks will continue to be subject to content filtering, monitoring and all acceptable use guidelines. Families who choose to keep a Chromebook for the summer months, will be responsible for any repairs or replacement required due to loss, theft or other damage. If you do not wish to accept this responsibility, you may return your child's Chromebook to one of our contactless technology support kiosks. If your child is not graduating but is NOT returning to the District, you will be required to return the Chromebook along with any other District-issued equipment. Please click here to access information regarding technology support kiosk dates, locations and times.
EFW
This year, the EFW Rush for Education will be a virtual event! Participants who register by June 15th will receive a t-shirt and home delivery of student/family packets. The cost for participation is $15 per person, which includes an event t-shirt and a finish line tape. If you’re interested in learning more or signing up, click here.
