Financial Aid Offers:
Now is the time when students begin receiving financial aid offers. Sometimes it can be a bit confusing, or overwhelming to read, understand and compare offers between schools.
Luckily our friends at Oregon Goes To College have an excellent financial aid offer comparison tool. Access the Orgeong Goes To college Financial Aid comparison sheet here. Students will be asked to make a copy of the Google Sheet to personalize it for themselves.
New 10th Grade Assessment: The PreACT
The Oregon Department of Education has contracted with PreACT as the state’s new 10th grade college-readiness assessment. This replaces the PSAT that Oregon high schools used to offer in October. All 10th graders have the opportunity to take this assessment and it is optional for students. 10th graders will need to opt in to take the PreACT. For 2022-23, the assessment window is in March, but for future years the window will be in October.
LHS High School will offer all current 10th-grade students the opportunity to take the PreACT on Monday, March 20th 2023. PLEASE NOTE THE UPDATED DATE.
The test takes approximately 3 hours to administer and students will be excused from their classes to participate. Students who are interested in taking the PreACT must opt in by completing this form by Tuesday, February 21.
There is no fee for the PreACT because the Oregon Department of Education has been directed to provide a statewide opportunity for 10th-grade students served by public schools to access a nationally-normed college entrance practice exam.
The PreACT is a low-stakes test-practice experience for four-year-college-bound students. Score reports provide insight into students’ predicted performance on the ACT, and include valuable career indicators. It is important to note that most four-year colleges and universities are test-optional or test-free, so the ACT or SAT may not be required for admission. Please contact your school counselor with questions. The test covers Math, Science, Reading, and English.
Go to Learn More About PreACT (pdf) if you would like more information.
We’d like your feedback – please take the Family Survey - 2/27-3/24
We have asked YouthTruth – a nonprofit organization that supports hundreds of schools and districts across the country – to conduct an anonymous survey on our behalf for both students and families. For information about this survey, please go here, or speak to a school administrator. We sincerely thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. Your response is incredibly valuable to us.
LHS Student Link: Will be provided in the coming weeks to students.
LHS Family Survey: Link complete by 3/24/23
Family Survey - Complete by 3/24
Please take the survey before it closes at midnight on March 24th by clicking this link.
Please note:
The survey needs to be completed in one sitting.
We ask that one member of each household fill out the survey.
If you have more than one child who attends the same school, you may respond to the survey multiple times - one time per child.
If you write any comments, please do not include your name or anything else that might identify you. Your responses are anonymous, and they will be combined with the responses of other parents and guardians before being shared back with school and district leadership.
Student Survey
We are asking your child to participate in the YouthTruth Student Survey in the coming weeks. The survey asks students about their experiences in the school and with their teachers, including how engaged they are at school, the rigor of their coursework, and their preparedness for the future. Our school, other schools, and researchers may use such information for developing plans to help schools and teachers improve.
Although we want to hear from all students, participation in this survey is voluntary.
Your child’s ratings will not be identified in any reports because results are shared at the group level. Personally identifiable information will not be released to any third party.
Please be aware that under federal law, you have the right to review a copy of the questions asked of your child. If you would like to do so, you can view a copy of the survey at school.
Please use this form to opt-out (complete only if opting-out).
If you have any questions about the survey, or our plans for how we will use your feedback, please contact Teresa Sanchez, sanchezt@loswego.k12.or.us.
LHS Prom Fundraiser - Make a donation 2/20-2/24
The class of 2024 is planning a super fun 80s prom on May 20th. After a few years of covid hindering our fundraising opportunities, our budget is substantially lower than a typical year for prom. The LHS class of 2024 would appreciate some help to make this prom the best it can be for our juniors and seniors. Go here (LHS Prom Fundraiser) to learn more and make a donation by 2/24/23.

LHS Parking Guideline Reminder
While parking on campus can be challenging we thank you in advance for following LHS parking guidelines. When parking errors occur it can be frustrating for the individuals impacted by the error, time consuming for staff to resolve parking issues and result in reduced parking opportunities in future years (if students are not following the guidelines).
Unfortunately, there is no ON CAMPUS or LDS PARKING for 10th and/or 11th graders for the 2022-23 school year. All parking permits were issued to seniors through an application process. Juniors - keep an eye out for the 2023-24 parking application, that will come out in the spring.
No Parking Permit?
If you drive to school and you do not have a permit, you must park on the street in front of LHS, in the neighborhood--staying away from mailboxes and driveways or park at Hazelia and walk to campus or else you risk a $30 (minimum) ticket being assigned to your LHS student account. After 3 tickets are issued parking tickets will automatically be assigned at $60 per ticket. If any student receives more than 5 tickets per school year they may not be eligible for a parking pass (during senior year).
LOSD Cares: Substance Use and Prevention Talk - 3/15/23
