Pe and wellness news
PE NEWS
Students started with a few laps around the gym and a reminder about some PE protocols. They played a jump-over and crawl-under game, followed by a bean bag toss game that included jumping over as many bean bags as possible in 30 seconds. Every class had some PACER practice to get in a few minutes of moderate to vigorous cardio work. We began a few weeks of basketball skills with the importance of an athletic stance, ball control drills, and dribbling games.
WELLNESS NEWS
The usual pattern of yoga on M and F, and AIM on T-W-Th, has resumed. An intrepid group of 4th grade girls is also holding a basketball clinic on Tuesdays and organizing a dance group on Thursdays. In addition, a group of 4th and 5th grade boys is in the midst of a two on two basketball tournament.
January 26th from 12-2 is the open gym at Peak Elite. It's a free session, brought to you by the Wellness Committee. Come out and play. If your family needs transportation, please contact the office.
Here is the school's PE schedule so you can plan for "Bring Your Parents to PE Week" from January 13 to January 17.
Come during your child's regular PE time. Wear comfortable shoes and clothing. Be ready to move!

Cards and Magnets
Cards and Magnets Needs Your Help!
Each spring parents can purchase cards and/or magnets featuring their child’s artwork. This year we are forming a committee to help with each of the tasks necessary to continue this awesome tradition.
Groups of parents are needed to help:
• Photograph each students’ artwork
• Crop and size each image
• Assemble order forms
• Color-correct purchased images
• Cut, laminate and assemble magnets
• Print and fold cards
• Assemble orders for delivery
If you are interested in helping out, please click herehttps://signup.com/go/htchuhd and feel free to sign up for more than one part of the project. Photographing will begin in January, while the other tasks will be completed throughout the spring. Most jobs can be completed at your convenience. If you have any questions, please email Nicole and Sara at volunteeradams@gmail.com.

Adams Parents’ Community Night
Come learn, laugh, and lend a hand! You are invited to our second Adams Parents’ Community Night on Tuesday, January 28th from 6:30 – 7:30 in the library. To help foster a welcoming and supportive environment for our parents, these events are held periodically throughout this year and will give you a chance to socialize with other parents, and do some hands-on tasks that will directly support our staff and students. You can have fun, stay informed, and feel accomplished all in one night!
Free child care will be provided in the gym. No need to reserve a spot, just show up! We hope you will join us and help make this community night a success!
Box tops
Each Box Top clip is worth 10 cents...and they add up! There are 2 ways to collect and donate your Box Tops. Box Tops for Education is going digital, and in the transition they are accepting both clips and scans.
If your package has a traditional Box Top clip, cut it off and send it into school.
If your package has a Scan Your Receipt Box Top, download the free Box Tops for Education App, set your school for Adams Elementary School, and scan your grocery receipts. It's fast and easy!
The next Box Tops submission is due March 1st, but we will be accepting Box Tops all year.
OBOB
Oregon Battle of the Books (OBOB) at Adams is seeking volunteers to assist in the OBOB battles by acting as a battle 'Moderator'. OBOB volunteer moderators will guide the students through the process of a battle by reading the questions, checking for correct answers, and scoring points. Moderators are invited to attend an 1-hr training in early January. OBOB practice and actual battles run for 5 weeks starting mid-January until mid-February. Volunteer Moderators will choose which day(s) of the week that they will attend battles. Battles are at morning recess, so Moderators should expect to spend about 40 minutes a week (9:35 - 10:15am). Please visit this link to volunteer: https://signup.com/go/zYZZLzc
Questions are welcome, Lindsey Swensen, Adams OBOB Moderator Coordinator - lindseybswensen@yahoo.com.
Library news
New Year, New Needs! Currently requesting additional help during some specific time slots for class checkouts to help and activities done during library visits. We are also always eager to have more volunteers who can help with projects from laminating to book covering to pulling books for book lists or making displays at any time you can pop in. Please email echo.rue@corvallis.k12.or.us if you would like to join the team of volunteers that makes the library hum!

Did you know the Public Library's Bookmobile comes to Adams? It currently is here on the third Friday of each month at 3:00 pm. The next scheduled date is January 17. It's an easy way to get some extra books and to return items instead of going to a branch library!
Volunteer training
Interested in Volunteering at Adams?
Please contact echo.rue@corvallis.k12.or.us and attend a monthly training.
We will cover how to use the copier and laminating machine and general school information and then if you are interested you can also have a library orientation and training if you would like to help in the library too. The next volunteer trainings will be held on Monday Jan 27th and Monday Feb 24th from 12:30-1:00. Please meet in the office and have completed the online volunteer application with background check online prior to volunteering (available on the school website).
ALL VOLUNTEERS- SAVE THE DATE! In this season of gratitude, we are planning ahead to hold a Volunteer Appreciation Event Wednesday May 13th from 7:30-8:30am. A short program will begin at 7:30 until the first bell. Then we will continue with a coffee social until 8:30 in the Library. We love our Volunteers at Adams!
