PHSN - 12/30/2016
Message from Mr. Ulbrich
- I want to thank each of you for your hard work and dedication to the changes implemented at the beginning of this school year. I know we all had to take time to adjust and find the "new norm". Through your input, we continue to find the best ways to impact the students here at PHSN. I look forward to the start of a new semester and am excited about the improvements we have in store for next year.
Second Semester E & I Specifics
Rostering Students
All students will go to the E&I group that is on their 2nd semester schedule
We will regroup students using an “Arena” scheduling format. (Field House)
Each teacher will have a blank E&I roster
Teachers can begin filling their roster spots now
Rosters need between 25-28 students. Some performance based groups may be larger.
Students will be
Juniors- January 5th
Sophomores - January 6th
Freshmen- January 9th
Math and ELA intervention students will be pulled and added to “Intervention” groups
Every attempt will be made to give intervention teachers as many of their ‘own’ students as possible.
Interventions will be balanced with homework help and enrichment opportunities (see #4 below).
We will monitor the growth of these students as part of many pieces to the process.
Seniors will be removed from IC based on their current Senior Pass standing. Seniors will be added to intervention as needed and identified.
All Updated class rosters will be entered into IC so teachers can take attendance
Talk with the students about 2nd semester. Inform the students NOW of this process.
Report to the E&I that is on their 2nd semester schedule
Remind students that they may be pulled for “Intervention”. **Need to make sure that Seniors hear the message.
Look for “Win-Wins” with the types of “Enrichment” offerings
Blank rosters will be loaded into the E/I Master Folder. Identified as 2nd Semester E/I Rosters
Teachers can start filling in the roster with students (non intervention groups)
Each roster needs 25-28 students (non Intervention groups)
"May every day of the new year glow with good cheer and happiness for you and your family." Happy New Year PHSN!

Staff Member of the Week
This week’s staff member has been married for 23 years after dating for 10. They have 2 children, Casey, PHSN 2014 graduate and now a junior at OSU. Ben, PHSN Freshman. This is her 7th year with PLSD. If she didn’t work in education, she would learn to play an instrument and join a band. Aside from necessities, she would not be able to live without music and chocolate. If this staff member were a ruler of her own country, her first change of the law would be to make it a 4-day workweek! Her warning label would read: “If irritable give chocolate”. One of the most valuable lessons our staff member has learned is that “Don’t sweat the small stuff”.
Donna Miller is our staff member of the week!
