Roselawn Round Up
Weekly Newsletter for Roselawn Families January 25th, 2021
Greetings Roselawn Families;
We enter the last week of January already, and we have had a really nice start back from the holiday break. Students have been working hard academically, following expectations, and staying healthy.
We have been able to finish our academic testing and our grade levels will be examining that data to help adjust instruction as needed.
Have a great week!
Respectfully,
Scott Kowalski and Tyler Nelson

Winter Weather and Recess
During the winter the decision to stay inside for recess or go outside sometimes can be based on a lot of variables:
- If the temperature or windchill reaches below -5 we will have indoor recess. Even with the cold, we take in several factors - Is the sun shining? What is the wind speed? We use the National Weather Service Official website to determine these factors.
- If it is raining or icy conditions on the equipment we will have indoor recess.
During indoor recess, students stay inside classrooms and will watch movies, play board games, use the laptops to play computer-based games and sometimes talk with friends. Even though these are fun activities, nothing can replace the fresh air during a beautiful winter day.
To enjoy these activities outside students should come appropriately dressed for the weather - snow pants, jacket, gloves, and stocking cap. There is also an ample supply of extra snow pants, hats, and gloves on hand that are new and donated to the school. If students might need to borrow one of these items, our school counselor can assist them.
Recess and play are very important for students to have a successful school day. Classrooms do an excellent job of providing extra recess when possible and allowing students the opportunity to move and play with friends and peers.
