EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP SCHOOL DISTRICT
Central Office Communications: Week of June 6, 2021
OUR CURRENT REALITY
Egg Harbor Township School Community,
We are now in the last full week of school. Many school sponsored end of the year activities have taken place and have brought a smile to our faces. It is so wonderful to see students being honored for their achievements, participating in championship competition, and/or enjoying a night at the prom, field day, or Renaissance celebration. This is #EHTPride. With patience and perseverance we are able to collaborate to celebrate!
Entering the month of June, we have received more changing guidance from the Governor and the New Jersey Department of Education regarding COVID-19 protocols for public schools. Despite the ease on mask restrictions throughout the state of New Jersey, public school students and staff are still required to wear masks while inside the school buildings. I have lifted the mandate for our secondary schools to require face shields and have left that as an option for staff and students; however, we must follow the mandates for mask wearing inside our schools.
Our summer programming includes learning acceleration opportunities for all students. Parents are encouraged to enroll their child in a relevant program that meets student needs and interests.
A kind reminder that it is very important for families that qualify for free and reduced lunch to register for our free and reduced meals program as soon as possible. Benefits include pandemic electronic benefits (P-EBT card), free and reduced internet service, SAT fee waiver, free college (dual credit) courses, free and reduced rates for AP testing and Seal of Biliteracy assessments, and millions in state and federal grants to enhance Egg Harbor Township programs.

CLIMATE & CULTURE
The culture of our schools includes our school improvement efforts to increase student achievement for ALL students. Where with Every Hand Together, Every child, Everyday is provided a relevant learning experience. Through professional development opportunities we are building an effective learning culture where students are provided a safe learning environment. Our teachers collaborate in professional learning communities to review student progress in order to provide ALL students with the opportunity to learn at high levels. We have a district -wide initiative that includes individualized interventions through the RTI process to assist ALL students with learning. We know that in order to successfully educate each student, we must be cognizant of each student’s individual learning needs. This can only be accomplished if we work together to eliminate any predictability of achievement disparities by race, ethnicity, gender, language, disability, and/or economics. All faculty and staff participated in equity training during our professional learning days. Together, we can achieve more!
