Math and Science
Math-We just finished our geometry unit and most students did an EXCELLENT job on their tests! Students are able to make corrections to their math test and will receive half credit toward their grade. Students will get their tests returned (with their corrected grade) early next week. Next week we will begin our place value unit. Students have been told that they need their Student Reference Book (SRB for short) at home to help them with their homework!
Science- we have just finished our matter unit in science. Next week we will begin our unit on force and motion.
Reading and Social Studies
Language Arts: This week we will continue working on identifying the four different types of sentences: declarative, interrogative, imperative, and exclamatory. Try asking your student the funny way we say them with our hand motions to help us remember the differences!
Social Studies: We will continue working on map skills. The Kentucky Collage project is due on Tuesday, September 10th. A rubric was attached to the map and there is a copy on Ms. Schreiner's class website along with directions. If you have any questions about the project, please let me know!
Writing: We will begin learning about the 6 + 1 writing traits that will help us become better writers. This week's focus will be "Ideas".
Notes from the teacher
We sent home Camp Carlisle permission slips last week. We have given plenty of time for those to be returned due to the extra expenses. Please have them back by September 16th.
Thank you to all the parents who helped out with the back to school dance! The volunteers and donations made it a success!
We have started our beginning of the year benchmarking in reading and math. Information and results will be going home this week.
