Weekly Updates 9/26/19
Hello Families,
We hope you have had an enjoyable week. The teachers have been working very hard on getting all information for progress report cards that will be going home October 4th. We have been pleased with many of the student performances and are excited to see how much they grow this year. I have added many files to this newsletter and we have sent home copies of all of them! We will also make sure they are updated to the school calendar on our website.
I also want to express my gratitude to the families who were able to be flexible and understanding with this constriction on Lawndale. We rarely, if ever, get notice on when they are going to be shutting down a street or doing any work on the roads. I love Chicago, but completely understand the frustration of having to re-route your driving routines. We have expressed to the city and the alderman that we need to have advance notice to avoid any confusion and frustration that can occur within the school community during construction times. Again, I want to thank you all for being very understanding and patient.
We had a great time today at our Thursday Morning Meeting and we encourage you to ask the students how much they enjoyed it. We gather as a school every Thursday to celebrate, pray, and gather as one school community. Every week a different class is in charge of leading prayer and the pledge of allegiance. At the end of the prayer and pledge, we add either a reflection or special acknowledgement. Since this is a new routine we are making sure students are able to follow directions and enjoy gathering together before we invite families on special occasions. Today, Mr. H was pied in the face for his raffle fundraiser! He has taken on the special challenge of running the Chicago Marathon for Big Shoulders! All proceeds donated will be used to help Maternity B.V.M. and other inner city Catholic schools. Please continue to pray and encourage him as he trains to run 26.2 miles!
We wanted to remind families of the dates of the Virtus classes we are offering at the school October 5th. Keep in mind that in order to attend field trips and/or volunteer during school hours the completion of this class is mandated. Please see the attached flyer for more information or visit www.virtus.org for registration information. The classes that will be held at B.V.M. are posted on the Virtus website.

Actualizaciones Semanales
Hola familias!
