Grand Nationals Housing Interest Form DUE TONIGHT!
We have our hotel for BOA! The band and guard will be staying at the Wyndham Indianapolis West. Our stay is 2 nights (11/10-11/11 - we will be on the buses overnight on 11/9 & 11/12). The price per room is $165 pre-tax. This price includes breakfast. BOA is checking with the hotel to see whether they will be able to accommodate our breakfast times (seeing as wake up call on Friday is 4 a.m.). If they are not able to accommodate us for breakfast, the rate will be reduced.
If you are interested in staying at the band/guard hotel, please fill out THIS FORM no later than Sunday, 9/11.
I will take this number to BOA and see if we can accommodate all of the requests submitted. I should know very quickly after submitting. I will then notify everyone that has submitted via email as soon as possible regarding room availability. Should you receive a room, in that email will be the deadline and a link to the booster website through which you will be required to submit payment for the rooms in order to solidify your reservation. Group reservations and payment deadlines are managed by BOA. Please know that, unlike hotel reservations you make as an individual, we will be required to pay BOA before arriving at the hotel.
Please remember that, should we be limited in the number of rooms, priority will be given to the Pit Crew volunteers and the 5 Full Time Meal Plan Executing Team members listed on the signup genius.
Should you have any questions about hotel reservations, please contact Ida Musgrove at president@johnsonbands.com.
Questions about Pit Crew? Please contact Michelle Florez at vpsupport@johnsonbands.com
Questions about the 5 Full Time Meal Plan Executing Team? Please contact Carmen Sifuentes at vp@johnsonbands.com.
Please remember that if you have not reserved a seat on the fan bus, you will need to arrange for your own transportation in Indianapolis. If you have questions about the fan bus, please contact Carmen Sifuentes at vp@johnsonbands.com.

From the director
Quick congratulations to our to our 2022 - 23 seniors on your Senior Night this past Friday! Can’t wait to see what the future holds for each of you. Now, before we get too nostalgic, let’s get back to work this week helping make our Jaguar Band the best it can be!!
What’s happening this week? We have a couple of big-ticket items this week, and we need everyone’s support! First up to start the day on Saturday we have our Johnson Bands Jaguar Jog! https://www.athleteguild.com/running/buda-tx/2022-jaguar-jog-5k10k. Make sure you either participate in the 5k/10k or volunteer to help out. It is an incredible event packed with fun, excitement and wonderful people! Let’s make it the best Jag Jog to date!
Also, this Saturday is THUNDER IN THE HILLS! The Johnson Jaguar Drumline and Front Ensemble will be competing in this event. Contest will be held at Dripping Springs HS, 940 US-290, Dripping Springs, TX 78620, USA. Join us and cheer on JHS Percussion in this competition. Our Jaguars perform at 1:45 p.m.
Grades, Grades Grades!! Our six-weeks progress report is coming up soon, so remember that if you have a failing grade on your progress report you will officially become ineligible to participate. This is a requirement from UIL and TEA. Please remember that students can attend tutorials every morning and afternoon Monday - Thursday! We also have an incredibly gifted group of students in all grades and classes who are extremely willing to help with peer tutoring! Don’t wait, or it will be too late. Be proactive rather than reactive. The most common reason we see students fail a class is not due to poor test grades, it is MISSING ASSIGNMENTS!! Turn your stuff in! We want and need every one of our Jaguar Band members eligible. You are what makes our band great! Again, turn in your assignments when they are due!
This week is a full week of rehearsals and are probably some of the most important rehearsals we will have to date. It is a regular week with our full eight hours of rehearsal, and we need EVERYONE at each rehearsal with EVERYTHING you need to make the best of EACH and EVERY minute we have available! Our first marching contest is only two weeks away, and we have a lot to do before that day arrives! It is imperative that we get movement four on the field, clean what we already have, add more movement and production, and keep RAISING our standards for not just the big things but also the little things! Let’s focus on making every aspect of our production the very best it can be! Greatness does not come easy and doesn’t happen overnight! Let’s have the right mindset, and let's make it a great week!
We need to remind ourselves each everyday that “It’s A Great Day To Be A Jaguar”!

The Beat--A Weekly Update for Percussion-Specific Information
This past Saturday the Drumline performed at the Tom Green Elementary Hornet Races. We received lots of compliments and praise from community members. It’s always great to give back to our awesome community!
The students have been working hard to put the final movement of the show on the field. This portion of the show is the percussion feature! We will continue to refine the show as we prepare for our first competition of the season.
It is Thunder in the Hills week! Thunder in the Hills Itinerary below.

Thunder in the Hills website:
Please keep up with your student's grades. We are coming up on progress report two, and that is the most important one of the year. Students can lose their eligibility if they are not passing ALL of their classes with at least a 70. We can’t afford to lose anyone! PASS THOSE CLASSES!!!!!
COMMUNICATION
Most communication for our band program goes out through Charms and Remind. Any Percussion specific info will be sent out via our Percussion Remind. I encourage all parents to sign up. This will hopefully keep you informed of upcoming percussion events, news, info, etc.
To sign up, simply text @jagsperc22 to the number 81010.

Quotes for a Cause
George Torres Farmers Insurance has partnered with to provide a unique opportunity to
raise money to support the JHS Band by requesting your free, no-obligation insurance quote! The goal is to raise money for the band and to give families peace of mind that they are paying a reasonable amount when it comes to insurance. His agency specializes in reducing student driver cost on family auto insurance. His agency will donate $10 to the JHS Band for each family that completes the attached quick survey. Your information will solely be utilized for a one-time, no-obligation quote and will be deleted once completed. There is no cap on how many families can participate in this opportunity but you must be over 18 years of age to receive a quote. Less than 1 minute to complete the survey could add up to an immeasurable amount of support for JHS Band. Plus, you might even save a lot on your insurance! Act quickly and share - the survey and this opportunity will only last through the Jaguar Jog on September 17th!
