Taking 2019 By Storm
Happy New Year! In the Panda room these past two weeks, we talked about winter things and activities. During centers, we matched penguin shapes, made puffy snow with shaving cream and glue, counted buttons on snowmen, made penguins, sorted snowflakes by size, painted polar bears, laced mittens, put numbers in penguins in order 1-20, and created snowmen with the letters in our name. During circle time, we clapped out the syllables in January, sang our days of the week song, checked the daily weather, and read books about winter.
For P.E., we played freeze dance, rolled hula hoops, followed actions during stretching songs, walked on balance beams, and went over and under hurdles. With our friends from Room 4, we played with fake snow in the calm corner and took turns in our pizza and ice cream parlor. We played What's Different, a game in which we look at what a friend is wearing, then we close our eyes as they go change one thing about their outfit, and when they come back we try to guess what's different about them.
A few rainy day activities this week included "ice skating" on wax paper, playing Musical Chairs, riding the roller coaster, taking walks around campus, following the arrows on the playgrounds, and mixing ingredients to make slime (which realllly stuck on our hands and clothes - oops!). We did a great job hiding under the tables during an earthquake drill on Wednesday.
We had a new student join our class last week - welcome, Jayden!
