Turn and Talk Questions

Here are this week's dinner table conversation questions.

  1. How do Billy and Walter trick Nick Farkas? Should they have warned Nick about the danger?
  2. Do you think it is wrong for Billy and Walter to lie about a sprained ankle? Explain.
  3. Who appears at the end of Chapter 51? Do you think he will ruin Billy’s plan to save his parents’ marriage? Why or why not?

Report Cards Open Friday, March 22nd

Your child's report card will be available on Genesis tomorrow, March 22nd. We continue to believe that the Lafayette Standards Based Report Card represents the work that we do in the classroom everyday. Our students work with rubrics in each content area, so they are aware of learning expectations, as well as how to work toward grade level standards.

Please take the time to review your child's report card with them this weekend. The Lafayette teachers work hard to make sure they are communicating with their students on why they are receiving certain process and progress indicators in each subject area. The report card is a wonderful opportunity for you to talk with your student again about the goals they are setting for themselves as we head into Spring.

It is important for me to share that it is not uncommon for students to still be receiving "2s" and "3s" at this time of year. Our reporting system works toward meeting grade level standards and in many cases the content focus has changed since the first trimester. You can find more information about the report card and the philosophy behind this type of reporting system on our website.

Once again, the report card is for you and your child, please use this weekend to go over the information and set some learning goals for the Spring.
