This past week our UIL One Act Play students performed the play John Lennon & Me at 3A District 17 competition in Corsicana. Our students represented CA well, but did not move on to Bi-District competition. However, 3 of our students were recognized for their efforts.

Congratulations CA UIL One Act Play for a job well Done!

Our soccer students continue to improve as they compete against 4A teams. I am so proud of our athletes! This Friday night will be our last home game of the season at GMS. We will be recognizing our seniors! I encourage everyone to come out and celebrate our students determination and hard work, as we competed in UIL soccer for the first time this year.

Collegiate Academy and TCC NE will be Spring Break March 13 - 17. I encourage everyone to take some time over the break to get refreshed and ready to finish up the semester Phoenix Strong! When we come back we will begin preparing for End of Course STAAR exams and closing out the semester at CA and TCC NE.

I am so proud of the class of 2023. These students were freshmen in March 2020 and had to attend college online their freshmen and sophomore years. It was a difficult transition for them, but they persevered and are now ready to graduate!

Attendance matters!

In order to learn, you have to be present. Our campus and district are working on goals regarding attendance. This includes excused and unexcused absence, and also tardies! Did you know that with the state, a student is required to attend 90% of the school year? There is not a difference between excused and unexcused absence when it comes to missing instruction.

We are funded based on attendance, so parents, we need your partnership in making sure that your students are here every day. During the month of March, every 1st period class that runs 97% or greater attendance will be given a free Kona Ice snow cone during lunch on March 31st! Together, I know we can make our campus goal of 97%!
