May 23rd: LAST DAY OF SCHOOL with StudentsFeedback from Parent Survey Comentarios de la encuesta de padres
Thank you to all the parents (198 total) that stopped and took the time to give us feedback! I have reviewed the data with our PAC and our staff! I am delighted to share out that out of that 198 parents that participated in the survey all 198 stated they were happy their child attended Sunset! That makes my heart happy, as well as the staff's hearts happy - we absolutely love all the students that attend Sunset!
I'd also like to address some comments around the question of feeling welcome at Sunset. There were 2 comments that really stood out....that stated they did not feel welcome because we would not let them into our building. So, I'd like to explain the best I can in writing. At Sunset Elementary, I have specifically asked Mrs. Fritz to stop all parents coming into the building for safety reasons and to limit all distractions. In the past we have allowed parents to deliver items to their child - however, this year, I have asked that you drop your items off at the office for us to deliver to your child's classroom. We value every minute of learning in our classrooms and when a parent enters a classroom disruption occurs. Now you may think this is a not a big deal - however, when we have 100 parents entering classrooms a day delivering items - think about the time lost due to disruptions. I know your intent is not to disrupt the learning and also know that my intent is not to make you feel unwelcome. The other part of allowing parents into our building is the safety component. I take the safety of all our students and staff VERY SERIOUSLY. Therefore, we will continue to stop anyone entering the building and ask for ID and/or reasons they are in the building. Please know I am not doing this to be unwelcoming - I am truly working to keep our students and staff safe at all times.
Please do not hesitate to come in and speak with me in regards to this if you still have questions and/or concerns. The bottom line is.....Sunset is responsible for all our kids and we take this very seriously and hope you understand this and know we do not intend to make anyone feel unwelcome. We also very much protect our learning time and again, our intent is not to make anyone feel uncomfortable, just working to maximize our time with your child/children.
Thank you,
Mrs. Hafey
Gracias,
Señora hafey
