April - eLearning April 1- 30, 2020
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Our goal is to provide learning opportunities for your child that promotes his/her continued growth and achievement. Our Choice Boards contain standards based learning activities in multiple content areas that allow students to revisit and experience continuous learning.
I hope you are all doing well and staying healthy and safe. As your child is working through the Choice Boards, please feel free to email me with any questions you have.
- click here to view the Choice Board and procedures for an eLearning day. Choice Boards Options have been translated into Polish, Spanish, and Russian.
- Additional learning Resources to provide more learning ideas and options.
-You can report your child's attendance by clicking on this link or by going to the eLearning platform - selecting "Elementary Attendance" followed by selecting "Sarah Adams". The form needs to be completed everyday and is open until 10pm.
Activities
This easy to use interactive website allows students to learn vocabulary in a fun game-like platform. Vocabulary is organized by categories and includes pictures and audio. This is a great tool for using in stations and it even includes a feature to correct answers so students can check their work independently.
This free tool is a video dictionary. The videos define words by showing examples of the word's meaning. This is a great resource for students to be able to understand the concepts of words and not just memorize the definitions.
Cultural Fair Update and Request
Due to the existing situation Cultural Fair has been cancelled. However, the Foundation sent out an email with the following request from Erica Chianelli, the Executive Director:
- “ I would still like to have a “Virtual” Cultural Diversity Fair if possible. I’d love to collect short videos (under 2 min) or photos of D95 families either demonstrating an activity, tradition, performance, or sharing something about their culture that I can post on social media.
Also, I’d like to make a “THANK YOU” video for health care workers and first responders, who are at the frontlines right now, of people saying thank you in a variety of languages. This is another way we can celebrate our rich diversity in D95. I would like people to make a video of them saying “Thank You” as well as holding up a piece of paper that says “thank you” in that language.” ( make a poster with the words "Thank you" in your first language, record yourself saying the words, say your name -grade level- and school you are from)
If you are interested, you can submit pictures or videos to me anna.janicki@lz95.org or directly to Foundation@lz95.org . Make sure you list the names of people included in the videos and pictures.
Thank you very much.
