Reminders to Parents
What are Tribes?
Thanks to generous sponsors, each Centralhatchee Elementary student will receive a FREE school shirt in the color of his/her tribe. This year, our school theme is camping, so the shirts will have a camping theme. Please look for a form to come home Monday. All you need to do is write the size shirt that you would like your child to have and return the form to school.
Adults may purchase a school shirt if they wish. Adult shirts range from $7.50 - $10.00, depending on the size. Adult orders are due no later than August 28th.
Mornings at Centralhatchee Elementary
- We encourage you to take your child's temperature each morning before they leave for school. If your child has been sick or has a fever, we suggest that your child stay at home. They must be fever free, without taking medication, for 24 hours prior to coming to school.
- All bus riders will be required to wear a mask.
- Car rider drop off begins at 7:10 a.m.
- Parents should enter from Notnomis Road (the drive by the old, white gym)
- Please have your child unbuckled and ready to step out of the car when you stop. If your child is not ready (bookbag and lunchbox in hand), you may be asked to pull into a parking place and walk your child up to the front steps.
- Students are tardy at 7:35 a.m. If your child is tardy, please walk your child to the front door and ring the bell. We request that you stay with your child at the front door until someone comes to the door please.
- All students receive FREE breakfast in their classrooms each day when they arrive at school.
Our School Day
- School hours are from 7:35 - 3:25 each day.
- Students should wear or bring tennis shoes for P.E. class or they will have to miss PE time.
- The lunch menu will be sent home each month, but may also be found under "Dining" on our school website. Student lunches are $2.50 per day.
- If your child brings a lunchbox to school, please make sure that he or she can open everything you send.
- We have water stations located all around the school. We suggest that you send a water bottle to school with your child. Water bottles must have a lid that comes off to refill. The part that the child drinks from must come off so that it will not touch the water dispenser. Some examples are below.
- Ice creams are $1
- Once a month, we offer students SUPER SNACK. Snacks and drinks may be purchased for $1 per item. This month, Super Snack will be August 28th. Students with excellent behavior are rewarded with a free treat!
Afternoons and Dismissal Time
- We encourage you to leave your child in school all day to keep them from missing important parts of their learning. If you must check your child out before dismissal time, please call the office prior to coming and we will have your child packed and ready to go.
- We do not allow check-outs after 3:00 p.m.
- Students that ride the bus must wear a mask at all times.
- If you are picking up your child early, please do not park in the lower parking lot. Our buses enter there in the afternoons. Please park in the upper parking lot that is accessible from Notnomis Rd.
- Please email us at ces-busnote@heard.k12.ga.us if you need to make a transportation change before 2:45. Transportation changes will not be accepted after 2:45.
- Students that are picked up in the afternoons will be dismissed at 3:15. Parents should enter at our entrance off of Notnomis Road, by the old white gym and pull up to the awnings. Parents must have a car rider tag hanging on the rear view mirror when picking up students. Please leave the car rider tag on the mirror until your child is safely in your car.
- We ask that you teach your child his/her car rider number. Students watch for their number to be displayed on the screen in their classroom, so it is very important that each child knows his/her number to keep the car rider line moving quickly and efficiently.
- If you need to buckle up your child after picking him/her up, please pull up in front of the old, white gym so that our car line is not blocked.
Other Information
- Please call the front office if you receive a new phone number or new address so that we can always get in touch with you in case of an emergency.
- Student agendas will be sent home Monday. Please use the agenda to write notes to your child's teacher and/or write transportation notes. Students in 1st grade and up are responsible for giving their agenda to their teacher each morning. The teacher assistants check the agendas in pre-k and kindergarten. Teachers use the agendas to communicate with parents. Students also write down homework assignments and test dates in their agenda, so it is very important that you check your child's agenda each night and sign it.
