SCHOOL VALUE THIS TERM: 'TO BE AN ORIGINAL VOGELTOWN LEARNER'
These are for our Vogeltown learners to be:
Inclusive (Whakaru), Respectful (Whakaute), Original (Tipu), Courageous (Kaha) and Kind (Atawhai).
These values were chosen by the staff, learners and community of Vogeltown School in 2019.
This term we are focusing on being 'respectful'.
TE REO FOCUS FOR THE WEEK
KIA ORA VS WHANAU, FROM MR O
A big thanks again to our wonderful kaiako who have had to improvise, engage and maintain classroom programmes that over the last couple of days has been quite challenging with our tamariki inside all day. Tu Meke team! Our learners have also shown the school value of 'respect' and being 'original' by finding clever ways to keep busy during these wet break times.
A big thanks to our Home and School committee who, at Wednesday nights meeting, gave $2,500 to the school for new cabinets that will store (and charge) our new ipads that the Junior school is receiving - thanks team. We are also looking in to the costs for canopies over the new deck on the senior side.
We are going to do some great fundraising again over the rest of this term and next. Our main fundraiser for this term will be the 'Tea Towel' fundraiser. This is the first time we have offered this in many years and replaces the 'Calendar artwork' fundraiser for 2022. More information will be out next week about this.
A reminder about the school 'Board of Trustees' Triennial Elections. Keep your voting papers coming in! Voting is open until Wednesday 7 September at 4pm. We encourage voting papers to be hand delivered to the ballot box in the office or you can return them by post if you wish.
Nga mihi nui Vogeltown whanau,
Mr O and the VS team

COVID-19 UPDATE AT VOGELTOWN SCHOOL - WEEK 4, TERM 3
We have no cases of covid at Vogeltown this week. There is an influx of covid in South Taranaki, some of the schools down in Hawera have had to shut for a few days. We are lucky enough to be able to continue to staff our school and continue to be open.
Our average attendance for this week has been again at 87.0%. We have had a number of learners becoming unwell with colds - these seem to manifest as sore tummies and headaches.
Please remember we are still in a pandemic and we must continue to keep being vigilant with hand washing and keeping safe.

LEARNERS CORNER - MONSTER WRITING FROM RM 13
ENROLMENTS 2022/2023
In September the Board of Trustees will be advertising any 2023 available spaces for out of zone students wishing to enrol at Vogeltown School. If living out of zone please ensure that we have children's names and your contact details on our database so that we can make contact when the out of zone enrolment process commences. Please note that children living in zone have automatic right of enrolment.
MR O'S FRIENDLY REMINDERS
1) Please remember to contact the school office if your child is absent or going to be late. You can report absences via Skool Loop, text 021 753 680 or ph 06 753 6843. Please do not use SeeSaw for student absences - these must come through the office.
2) Please be courteous before and after school with parking around the school sites. We have lots of kids and not enough parks, so please allow time to get to school and be patient around the streets.
Thanks whanau
Stay safe and be kind to each other. Thank you for the ongoing support of Vogeltown School, we appreciate the community we live in.
On behalf of the Vogeltown team,
Ka kite ano
