AFJROTC PRESENTS COLORS AT OPENING SESSION
Last week, the Chandler AFJROTC, commanded by Colonel Jones and MSgt Goodson, had the fantastic opportunity to present colors at the 2020 opening session of the Arizona State Senate.

NHS CLOTHES CABIN DRIVE
The National Honor Society Clothes Cabin Committee is conducting its third clothing/hygiene drive of the school year. NHS invites you to bring in donations to help support this need within our community. The drive runs through Wednesday, January 29th. Students can donate during their 2nd hour, and community members are welcome to drop off donations in the front office. Thank you for participating!

NEWS FROM THE IB OFFICE
10th Grade IB Registration
Current sophomores interested in signing up to be in the IB Diploma Programme of IB Career Programme who did not have a chance to attend the IB Registration Fair need to meet with Mrs. Mello ASAP. Mrs. Mello will help interested students enroll in the program of their choice and choose their classes for next year.
Students who already met with Mrs. Mello need to complete and turn in the IB registration and student contract to the IB Office by no later than Friday, January 24, 2020.
IB Booster Facebook Group Page “CHS IB Parent Boosters”
Earlier in the school year, the IB Booster Club created a Facebook page to provide current IB parents with the opportunity to stay abreast of upcoming events like Booster Club meetings, fundraisers, volunteer needs and important dates. This forum also offers parents the important opportunity to ask questions and to connect with each other. We would be delighted to have you as a member of our group.

-Enrollment is limited to 25 new girls and this camp will fill up fast!
-Campers do not need to be current Girl Scouts to apply.

TAX CREDIT DONATIONS
Arizona law ARS 43-1089.01 enables taxpayers a tax credit contribution of up to $400.00 per calendar year if filing status is Married, filing Joint Return; $200.00 per calendar year if filing status is Single or Head of Household; and, $200.00 per calendar year if filing status is Married filing separate return — for contributions that fund extracurricular activities in public schools. A tax credit is a full refund, not a deduction.
Contributions eligible for a tax credit are donated directly to schools, not to the state or the school district. To participate, follow the links listed above to donate online or you can print a form to complete and submit your contribution.

-Form 322 - Credit for Fees Paid to Public Schools, and
-Form 301 - Credits

Witness History in Action! Join the Chandler High Close-Up Club as they travel to the 2021 Presidential Inauguration. Become a part of history at this fast paced, interactive week full of activities. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity that brings students together from across the country to witness the swearing-in of the President. Stop in room #120 for additional information, and then sign up for the 2021 Close-Up Washington DC Presidential Inauguration trip and become a part of History! Tax credits are a great way to get your deposits in.

YOUTH MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID TRAININGS
Youth Mental Health First Aid is designed to teach parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, peers, neighbors, health and human services workers, and other caring citizens how to help an adolescent (age 12-18) who is experiencing a mental health or addictions challenge or is in crisis. Youth Mental Health First Aid is primarily designed for adults who regularly interact with young people. The course introduces common mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development, and teaches a 5-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations. Topics covered include anxiety, depression, substance use, disorders in which psychosis may occur, disruptive behavior disorders (included ADHD), and eating disorders.
