What's New in KA?
Jan 29, 2016
Check out what 's happening in KA!
In KA, we have been learning about how to control strong emotions such as feeling angry and feeling disappointed. We learned that we do not want to be an “Angry Bird”. Instead, we can find a quiet place to quiet down, speak to an adult, take deep breaths, and think about how our actions can affect others.
We are also working on being reflective about our days. One of our favorite closing circle activities is where we pass the medicine ball and share either one thing that went well, or one thing we will work on tomorrow. One goal of the IB Program is to have students reflect upon their learning and actions throughout the day. Ask us about one thing that went well for us today!
As we have transitioned into the new year, we have been working in our PODS nearly every day. We love working in small groups to learn.

I Love Reading, Yes I Do!
KA has been falling in love with reading! They have been practicing and becoming more comfortable with using our super reading powers (pointing under words, matching the pictures to the words on the page, rereading when they get stuck, and much more). We encourage you to continue nightly practice at home with your RAZ Kids account to continue our growth towards becoming extraordinary readers.
Super Readers!
Our super readers have been learning that we have to look at all parts of a book, such as the title, pictures, and words, to help us understand what our story is about. We have also been working on our fluency and making our books come to life while reading with a partner. We have learned that reading with a partner can be tricky, but once we read at the same pace and with the same tone, we become more fluent in our reading,

It's Family Time!
We have been so thrilled to have some of our KA families come to our class to either tell a story or share something about their family. We traveled from New Orleans, where we learned about Mardi Gras, to Ecuador, where we learned about erupting volcanoes! We would love for more of our KA families to come in and share so please sign up!
