Need to Know
Parent-Student-Teacher Virtual Interviews March 2&3: BOOKING IS OPEN! The instructions for booking appointments are here. Mr. Lajoie is available to meet with families for an interview. If there’s a matter you’d like to discuss via Zoom on March 2 or 3, please contact Ms. Beech to arrange a time. Mr. Lajoie is available via phone or email, as usual, outside of the Parent-Student-Teacher interview dates.
Planning to be away from school? If you know your son will miss days of school next week, or in the week following the March break, please notify Ms. Beech. Students will speak to their teachers directly to find out what they’ll be missing.
Phys Ed Course Selection: At this time, we ask families to review the options presented in this Spring Phys. Ed. Options form. Every Middle School student should indicate his preferred phys. ed. options for the April - June spring term and submit this form by Thursday, March 2.
MS Play takes to the stage in May! The first information meeting was held this afternoon. Any student who wasn’t able to attend is encouraged to email Ms. Martin. Auditions will begin after March break. There are roles onstage and off for everyone interested in getting involved!
Scholastic Challenge - Test Yourself on your General Knowledge! A practice quiz is now available to all Grade 7&8 students! Print this quiz or pick up a paper copy from Ms. Beech’s office and return it before Monday, Feb 27. Students who participate can earn prizes and top scorers will be announced at MS assembly. On Friday, February 24, all Grade 8 students will be competing in the 2023 Scholastic Challenge. This online quiz tests general knowledge of students nation-wide.
Red Cross Babysitting Course: Sign up here! Ms. Beech will contact interested families the week of March 27 to confirm registrations. This certification course will be held at ECS on Saturday, April 22, 2023 from 8:30am-5pm. Grade 7-9 students from ECS and SHS will learn first aid skills, leadership and professional conduct for use in any capacity (babysitting, day camps, sports teams, etc.). It is also a great addition to a young person’s CV. The cost is $70/person. Click here for course details or consult this website.
Intensives: Students have submitted their course preferences and teachers are fine-tuning their courses! Class lists will be shared with students next week in advance of the first group meeting scheduled for Thursday, March 2 from 9:20-10am.
Talent Show - Postponed: Due to low sign up numbers, the Talent Show has been postponed. We will send out information about new audition dates after the March break and schedule a lunchtime version of the Show or early May.
March Break Camps: It’s not too late to register for exciting camp experiences this March Break! There are still spaces available for basketball and debating camps. Registration closes Tuesday, February 28. Click here for more information.
Summer Camps: Summer camp options at Selwyn House will be available soon! Keep an eye out for more information in the coming weeks. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please email camps@selwyn.ca.
