Description
Censorship in restrcited access to social networks in schools is the suppression of speech or other public communication through social networking during school which may be considered objectionable, sensitive, or inconvenient.
New Federal Legislation Would Ban Online Social Networks in Schools & Libraries
Memebers of congress proposed a new legislation that would require schools and libraries to block access to online social networks.It prohibits access by minors without parental authorization to any commercial social networking websites during school.
Teachers & Students
In Pinellas County, Florida school board voted unanimously to block teachers and students from using and communicating with eachother on social media sites.But teachers say otherwise that it shows students responsibility and by blocking it would denie the students the chance to practice sharing knowledge with the world.
Causes of restricted access to social networking during school
-CIPA ( childrens internet protectin agency) filters websites in schools-e- discovery schools must make an effort to archive electronic communications-FERPA ( family educational rights and privacy act) protect childrens privacy rights of children under the age of 13-Bandwith-the use of specific websites.
Reasons why students opposed
Students say schools shouldn't worry about here indulgences in the internet world and restricting it isn't necessary. By blocking soical media sites it deprives students of their freedom which causes unrest in schools. Rather then a prison to restrict actions of students they should be informed about disadvantages of over indulging them.
