CONGRATULATIONS, RENEE' BURFORD, ON YOUR UPCOMING RETIREMENT!
Thank you, Renee, for your many years of service to our St. Margaret Mary Catholic School Community. Renee has been a treasured member of our faculty at SMM for many years. She has been a pillar in education with over 30 years of experience. She has spent many years teaching religion and math to our middle school students---a true expert in her field. Our middle school team will not be the same without her! While her retirement will begin after the 2018/2019 school year ends, her treasured, positive contributions to Catholic Education will continue to impact our school and community well into the future.
Many prayers for you, Renee, in this new chapter of your life! We love you!
KUDOS TO OUR STAR PERFORMERS OF SEUSSICAL JR. THE MUSICAL
WE THINKS SEUSSICAL JR. WAS MAGICAL
Special thanks to our Director, Scott Sauber; his assistant Allee Peck; our crew, Kacie Edson, Abby Hebert, Mark Enright, and Ethan Donnelly; and to our wonderful PTO for sponsoring the play.
OH WHAT A NIGHT UNDER THE LIGHTS!
THE CHAMPS!
A night when two wonderful Catholic elementary schools in Slidell came together to raise funds for two special families. It was truly a magical and blessed night. Both teams left everything on the field. Great game, Lady Chargers & Lady Knights!
Tonight our Lady Chargers defeated the Our Lady of Lourdes Lady Knights 12 to 6 in our flag football fund raiser for the Osborn and Eirich Families. The Chargers scored their winning touchdown with 0:00 left on the clock. It could not have been scripted better.
We were so blessed to have Nicholas Eirich perform the coin toss. Nicholas just received a new heart and we were so happy that he could join us. Unfortunately, Carryl Osborn could not.
We would like to thank Pope John Paul II High School; Doug Triche, PJP Principal; Richard Deiudonne, PJP Athletic Director; the PJP Jazz Cats; the OLL & SMM players, coaches, cheer squads, dance teams, and parents of St. Margaret Mary School and Our Lady of Lourdes for their support.
SMM Would also like to thank our head coach and visionary for this event, Richie Smith. We are grateful for all you have done to coordinate the game. We are also grateful to your assistant coaches, George Cox, Dean Aguillar, Peyton Smith, and Marcus Benton.
We cannot forget our sponsors… SMM Men’s Club, Mizers, Thrivent, and Klass Ink. And, of course, Tony Chapetta for his play-by-play of the game. Thank you.
We raised close to $1850.00. Way to go, friends!

Annual SMM School St. Joseph’s Day Altar
We are pleased once again to have Mrs. Paula Powell, former SMM mom and current SMM grandmother, coordinate our St. Joseph’s Day Altar. Our students have enjoyed the altar over many years. Our altar will be open from 9:00 am to 12 noon on Tuesday, March 19.
Mrs. Powell and friends will be baking on Wednesday, March 13 from 2:30 to 8:00 pm and setting up on Monday, March 18 at 8:00 am. She could use quite a few helpers on these two days.
Again, we will need a lot of donations of individual items, cookies (especially Easter or Italian cookies), muffins, and decorations of religious shapes. Remember – no nuts, please! Please bring your donations to the school cafeteria on Monday, March 18 anytime and Tuesday, March 19 before school.
We invite our parents, grandparents and grand friends to visit before 10:30 am.
Paula Powell’s contact number is 504-452-2846.
Thanks & God Bless,
Gay Knock

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS "CATHOLIC SCHOOL TUITION LOTTERY"
To assist with the cost of Catholic education, the Louisiana State Council of the Knights of Columbus has a new program called the "Catholic School Tuition Lottery Program." This free program helps pay for a child's Catholic school tuition.
Members of the Knights of Columbus having children in a Catholic school (from Pre-K to 12th grade) are eligible to enroll their children in this free lottery. Non-members can become eligible for the lottery by joining the Knights of Columbus (assuming they are at least 18 years old, male and Catholic). Thus, this program is only open to members of the Knights of Columbus.
Each quarter we will randomly draw the names of four students, and if selected, we will directly pay their school $500 towards the child's tuition. The entry form stays in the pool of applicants,
thereby providing the chance for the child's name to be drawn more than once!
Please click on the following link for more information and the entry form.
Good luck & God Bless.
