Jovial Jaguar Giving Tree
Hello, Jovial Jaguars!
WBMS has a tradition of our staff collecting gifts for our students in need. This year, we would like to open that giving opportunity to the community at large. Are you interested?
The Jovial Jaguar Giving Tree welcomes families to donate gift cards of any amount to our front office. Gift cards can be to places like:
· A grocery store,
· Haircuts,
· Pizza place
· Favorite restaurant
· Target, Walmart, Kohl’s or any clothing store,
· Family fun places like the movies, Main Event, Top Golf, etc.
· VISA gift cards are great for paying rent and utility bills, too!
So that we can properly secure the gift cards, please give the gift cards directly to Ms. Hedger or Ms. Seletsky at the front office. All gift cards need to be in by Monday, December 11th.
Thank you for considering this way to help youth in our own school!
Have a happy, merry, beautiful season!

Blunder Number Two: Giving Your Gifted Students More Work When They Finish Early
It is common practice to give students more work if they complete their assignments early. This is counterintuitive if you consider that if the student is completing his/her work in an efficient manner, it is likely that the work is too easy. Let's once again consider our cyclist. Would you have the cyclist who finished the race first continue to ride, on a stationary bike no less, until all of the other cyclists finished the race? What if that cyclist was given an opportunity to participate in more challenging races or had the opportunity to develop his/her talents in related areas -- wouldn't that be a better use of his/her time?

Our School Release Days
These are the dates approved through the RFF process as part of School Governance. WBMS students will NOT attend school on the following dates:
September 1, 2017
October 5, 2017
January 16, 2018
March 8, 2018
Community Balance Days 2017-2018
September 20
October 25
February 21
March 21
The idea is that students will go home right after school to create balance in their lives. Staff members and students alike will take a night off. Club sponsors and coaches and directors may hold meetings and practices and games as needed. We feel students release stress through these extracurricular activities.
Please plan to enjoy yourself and work your assessments around these dates this school year.
