Geography
Botswana is located in South Africa, north of South Africa. The area of the country is 581,730 sq km, to compare, it is slighly smaller than Texas. The climate is semiriad; warm winters and hot summers. The terrain- predominantly flat to gently rolling tableland; Kalahari Desert in southwest. Their highest point is: Tsodilo Hills 1,489 m , and their lowest point is junction of the Limpopo and Shashe Rivers 513 m. Their natural resource is diamonds, copper, nickel, salt, soda ash, potash, coal, iron ore, and silver. A little geography note is that Botswana is landlocked; population concentrated in eastern part of the country.
Gaborone is the capital city and is located in the south east of Botswana. The Other major towns include Francis town, Lobatse, Selebi-Phikwe and Jwaneng. Okavango River is Botswana's major river. The Kalahari Desert is a large sandy Savannah in South Africa. It is extending 900,000 square kilometers, covering much of Botswana. The Okavango Delta is a very large delta that formed where the Okavango River a tectonic trough in the central part of a basin and the Kalahari. Desertification in Botswana is a problem, because of Botswana their natural resources is going away, same as their water.

History
- 1966- They got their Independence from Great Britain.
- 1980 - President Seretse Khama dies. Quett Masire, former vice-president, is made president after National Assembly vote.
- 2000 February/March - Devastating floods: More than 60,000 are made homeless.
- 2003 September - Botswana begins erecting a fence along its border with Zimbabwe to stem an influx of Zimbabwean illegal immigrants.
- 2009 April - Botswana says it will halve diamond production because of falling demands for gems.

Government
Botswanas government type is parliamentary republic. The capital is Gaborone. Botswanas national symbol is Zebra.
Executive Branch: President Seretse Khama Ian Khama, and the vice president Ponatshego Kedikilwe are the chief of state. The president of Botwswana is both the chief and the head of the government.
Legislative Branch: The house of chiefs, Bicameral Parliament consists and the National Assembly. The last National Assembly was held on 2009 next to be held is in 2014.
Jusicial Branch: Court of Appeal and the High court is one of the highest courts. Judge sekection and term of office, all judges are appointed to serve until the age of 70. The subordinate courts are the, Industrial court, Magistrates courts, Customary court of appeal, Paramount chiefs court, Senior chiefs Representative cour, Chiefs Representative's Court, and the Headmans Court.
Economics
Botswana, when they got their independence from Britian, was one of the world's highest economic growth rates. When, in 2009 it all started going down. But it started to recover in 2010, but still GDP have again began slowing down.
The industries in botswana are, diamonds, copper, nickel, salt, soda ash, potash, coal, iron ore, silver; livestock processing; and textiles. Botswana imports foodstuffs, machinery, electrical goods, transport equipment, textiles, fuel and petroleum products, wood and paper products, metal and metal products.
