History of the University
The University was originally conceived in 1827 to open a public university in the state of Texas. In the early 1900's, the University had the biggest enrollment in the country. It also contained the best and major programs in the country. I officially opened after the civil war. They found oil on the campus ground, and were able to expanded the campus. They are known for having very good sports teams and for the Hook'em Horns symbol.
