State Testing:

As we wrap up ACT Testing, below are updates on State Testing and what you need to know.

Students are mandated to take state tests at Sycamore High School in the following enrolled courses: Algebra I, Geometry, English 10, American History, Government, and Biology. These state tests count for graduation requirements as outlined by the Ohio Department of Education. We are currently preparing our students to be successful on their state test or tests through the courses they are taking. Test content is built into the classroom curriculum. On the days of our state tests, students’ schedules will consist of testing periods in the morning and an adjusted schedule of classes following testing. Students who are not testing can arrive after the testing period or ride the bus and wait in the Gregory Center until the testing sessions are over. Students will follow the schedule provided below.

What is the state test schedule?

Testing Schedule

How will I know if I need to take a state test?

Students will receive an email sent to their Sycamore account that informs them when, where, and which test they are taking two days prior to testing.

What should I do prior to the state tests?

  • Bring your Sycamore chromebook, fully charged, to school.
  • Bring your own calculator for testing.
  • Check your Sycamore email for testing location and be at school on time.

What happens if I don’t have to take a state test?

If you are not enrolled in any of the six tested subject areas, you will not come to the building during the testing sessions. If you ride the bus, you can sit in the Gregory Center and wait until the testing session is complete. Classes will still meet after the state testing sessions. Please refer to the testing schedule linked above.

Any further questions, please contact Adrienne Sanders, assistant principal, at sandersa@sycamoreschools.org.

Operation Give Back wants your spirit-wear

Spring cleaning or just have too much?? Operation Give Back is collecting gently used spirit wear…Sycamore, UC, OSU, Bengals, FC, Reds etc. Smaller sizes always needed, but will take all sizes. We use these to provide each Sycamore student, receiving a backpack at the School Supply Giveaway, a Sycamore shirt to start the year and our Holiday Store provides child/family member with spirit wear, as well! During the Sweet 16/March Madness event, each OGB child in the after school program gets a shirt to support a local team or team in the Sweet 16. Please drop in bins located at each school, or at Operation Give Back at 10891 Millington Ct, or let Becky Dawson becky5623@aol.com know and I can pick up.

parking violations

We have noticed more students parking in staff parking spaces, other students' spaces, or in empty areas behind the stadium. We will conduct random spot checks of parking violations. Students parking without permission or in a spot not their own will receive disciplinary consequences.

This may include forfeiting the right to park on campus in future years.

SYCAMORE BRIDGES

Sycamore Bridges is working with the community to provide support for our own HS students. Please visit bit.ly/SycamoreBridges to see our posted request for assistance.
