TEA Correspondence Regarding Dyslexia
At this time, we have not received guidance on whether or not the Frequently Asked Question document is required to be a part of the upload. We will provide further guidance when we receive it!
As a reminder, if your district webpage contains references to evaluation through 504 or is inconsistent with the current information in the revised dyslexia handbook, this information needs to be updated.
Below is the a copy of the entire TAA correspondence from March 31, 2022.

TDA 2 : Updates to Dyslexia Handbook
The United States Department of Education - Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) is requiring TEA to develop a plan to ensure that all districts are informed of the Dyslexia Handbook 2021 Update, which went into effect on February 10, 2022.
As part of the plan TEA is required to report to OSEP that at least one staff member from each district has attended the agency-developed training titled Texas Dyslexia Academy 2 (TDA 2): The Dyslexia Handbook 2021 Update by August 31, 2022.
Region 14 offered this training to regional schools on March 22, 2022 and had 90% of our LEAs represented!! To provide an additional opportunity for those that were unable to attend and also allow other interested parties to participate, we have scheduled an additional training for JUNE 30, 2022 (8:30 am - 12:30 pm) IN PERSON. The button below will provide access to registration for this training.
TDA 1: Dyslexia Foundations

- Explore the common risk factors for dyslexia
- Understand associated academic difficulties and other conditions
