Meyer came up with the plot during the day, and wrote it out late at when her kids were asleep. A couple months later she finished her first novel, Twilight. Her sister was the only one who knew about this book. Meyer submitted her book to various literary agencies. Twilight was picked by Writer's House and eventually made its way to the publishing company Little, Brown where everyone fell immediately in love with the theme, star-crossed lovers.
Main Characters
Bella Swan- A clumsy, accidental prone teenage girl. She moves to Forks, Washington from Phoenix, Arizona and finds that there is something different going on in Forks.
Edward Cullen- Born in 1901, in Chicago, Illinois. Edward was dying from Spanish Influenza before Dr. Carlisle Cullen turned him into a vampire. Elizabeth, Edwards mother begged Carlisle to save Edward as her dying wish.
Jacob Black- Bellas best friend. A Native American and a werewolf. He tells Bella about all of the Native American stories.
Conflict
Bella is a human and the Cullens are part of a very small group of vampires that doesn't attack humans. The Relationship between Bella and Edward is a conflict in its self.
Plot Teaser
Bella is stuck between the decision of choosing either the vampires or the werewolves. They both hate each other and she knows it. What will the final decision be?
"I got a good look at his mind tonight," he began in a low voice. "I'm not sure if there's anything I could have done to avoid this, once he saw you. It is partially your fault." His voice was wry. "If you didn't smell so appallingly luscious, he might not have bothered. But when I defended you... well, that made it a lot worse. He's not used to being thwarted, no matter how insignificant the object. He thinks of himself as a hunter and nothing else. His existence is consumed with tracking, and a challenge is all he asks of life. Suddenly we've presented him with a beautiful challenge - a large clan of strong fighters all bent on protecting the one vulnerable element. You wouldn't believe how euphoric he is now. It's his favorite game, and we've just made it his most exciting game ever." His tone was full of disgust.
This Passage shows the never ending conflict between humans and vampires.
The kind of reader that might enjoy this book.
I think the type of person that will enjoy this book, would be someone that likes to be on the edge of their seat never knowing what will happen next.
My opinion of this book.
This book is very interesting, but sometimes it gets predictable. Not really the type of book i normally read.
