2021-22 School Year Health Protocols

Dear St. Mary Catholic Schools Community,

The mission of SMCS is to prepare and inspire students to lead meaningful lives, rooted in the teachings of Christ in our Catholic tradition. Reflective of this mission related to COVID-19 protocols, our goal is to provide the least restrictive educational environment in our schools while managing risk of harm to our students, staff, and community.

Based on continued low incidence rates of COVID-19 in our school system and minimal rates in neighboring schools that have similar policies, SMCS will continue with current policies, including strongly encouraging, but not requiring, masks throughout our school system while indoors. We will still require masks at assemblies, middle school and high school Masses, etc.

Since the last update on September 10, a few updates have been made to testing and household member contact protocol requirements.

Review the most up-to-date COVID policies and procedures here. Please refer to page 1 for the updated chart and page 2 under "Testing" for updates.

Free testing for all SMCS students and staff will be available (located at the high school) beginning next week. Further information about the free testing and process will be shared next week.

We will continue to closely monitor COVID cases in our schools. If conditions require a shift in protocols and policies, SMCS will do so.

Thank you for your ongoing support and prayers for our students, staff, and school community!

Sincerely,

Dan McKenna

SMCS Superintendent
