Principal's Message
Meadow View Families,
It was so good to have staff back in the building Monday and we are looking forward to seeing you at Meet and Greet tonight!
This year more than ever, substitute teachers are vital to OASD, Meadow View, and our students. If you would like to help us out or have a question about subbing, give our Human Resource Office a call at 262-560-2154.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO BE A SUBSTITUTE TEACHER IN THE OASD?
The OASD accepts licensed teachers as substitutes.
Or if you hold a 2-year associate's degree or a 4-year bachelor's degree but are not a licensed teacher, you are still eligible to become a non-certified substitute teacher in the district.
SUBSTITUTE TEACHER RATES OF PAY:
$120 per day
$170 per day for long-term substitutes (at least 20 consecutive days in the same assignment)
TO BECOME A SUBSTITUTE TEACHER IN THE OASD:
Please apply online to WECAN vacancy #65687.
TO BECOME A SUBSTITUTE PARAPROFESSIONAL IN THE OASD:
Substitute paraprofessional support staff is needed as well. Please apply online to WECAN vacancy #769.
Communication – stay connected!
More than ever, home and school communication will be important. Here is how we can stay connected:
- Whole school information will be shared by E-mail, the Meadow View website, and this very newsletter (sent out on Tuesdays).
- The Family Resources tab on the school website is a valuable resource as well.
- Classroom information will be shared by individual teachers. Please read the newsletters/emails and connect via Seesaw. Be sure to check any take-home folders from the classroom, as some information is best sent with old-fashioned paper.
There will also be times where you will need to call the school. Here are the important phone numbers:
- Attendance (262) 560-8002
- Health Room (262) 560-8003
- Main Office (262) 560-8005 or 8006
Finally, throughout August I have sent out several videos sharing much of our planning. If you haven't made time to check those out, please do so.

Meet and Greet
Reminder, Meet and Greet is tonight August 25, but the format will be different this year. Meet and Greet is an opportunity for students to drop off materials, tour classrooms, and meet their teacher.
To reduce contacts and remain aligned with Waukesha County Public Health social distancing and group size guidelines, we will use a staggered schedule based on student last names. Due to the current face mask mandate issued by Governor Evers, we ask that families and students please wear a face covering while in the building.
Our school’s Meet and Greet event is only for students starting the school year in the face-to-face learning option and their families.
August 25: Elementary Grades 4K-4 Meet and Greet Information
- Elementary Schools Meet and Greet will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 25.

Parking – Please park in either our visitor parking (South lot) and enter through door 1 or in our staff parking lot (North lot by the large playground) and enter through door 7.
We understand that not everyone will be able to join us during this event. Classroom teachers will provide an introductory video to share with all families before the first day of school, and materials can be brought with your child on the first day of school. We regret that this year's event will not include tables by our PTO and other organizations, but we are also thankful we can host your family to get to know each other a little better before starting school on September 1, 2020.
If you have any questions regarding our upcoming Meet and Greet, please contact me at schreibj@oasd.org.
Drop off and pick up information
Morning Drop Off
Any time you enter the driveway, please make certain to give our students a “brake!” Slow down.
Arrive between 8:20 and 8:35. Supervision is provided. Students enter school at 8:30 and class begins at 8:40.
Have your children ready to get out of the car on their own, and they should exit the car on the right side so they do not cross between cars. Should you need to help them out, please park in the spaces provided and walk your child to the crosswalk.
Pull up as far as possible in the drop-off line.
When leaving, please wait for the car in front of you to pull out.
Dismissal
Car tags are available upon request by emailing or calling the office.
The loading zone will be in the same area as morning drop off.
Please use the car line and refrain from parking and walking to the front of the building
If your child is not ready when you are in the loading zone, please loop back around and get in line again. This will help us keep the line moving.
Help us time your arrival. Our 4K and 5K students will be the first out of the building, followed by 1st and 2nd, and 3rd and 4th will be the last out.
Car tags for family pickup
If you would like a car tag for family pick up, please sign up one of the following ways:
- Sign up in the school office
- Call the school office at: 262-560-8006
- E-mail the school office at: meadowview@oasd.org
Two car tags will be sent home in your student’s back pack.
Having you child go home a different way?
Allergies, Snacks and You
Children are welcome to have nut products in their lunches eaten in the cafeteria.
Celebrating birthdays at school
Dear Meadow View Families,
As we move into our new building it gives us an opportunity to reflect on how we approach certain things. Due to the growing number of health concerns for our students, we are asking families to not send in food items to celebrate a child’s birthday or star student. We take the safety of our students seriously, and we appreciate your cooperation and understanding.
Because birthdays are meant to be fun, we will celebrate a child’s birthday in many special ways which do not include food. For example:
We will continue to announce each child’s name during the morning announcements and ask them to come to the office for a birthday pencil.
Each class will continue to do unique things in the classroom. Some examples include:
giving the student a birthday crown or special pin to wear for the day
displaying a birthday sign or poster
singing “Happy Birthday” to the child
writing or sharing compliments to the birthday child
giving the birthday child special privileges in the classroom like lining up first, sitting in a special chair, or choosing the Morning Meeting game the class will play
We appreciate your support and ask that you, please do not send in food treats for your child’s birthday.
Thank you,
Mr. Schreiber
