A Principal's Perspective
I know I got sappy this morning during assembly talking about our awesome staff! With that said, I have many opportunities to talk with other principals across the state. When talking to them, I come to realize how truly amazing, professional, all about kids, passionate about teaching our staff really is and how the education and well being of our kids benefit from this. Things we might take for granted here at GP does not necessarily happen at other schools. I think that this is due to each staff member's contribution, sharing of talents and learning/growing professionally that make a difference to the students and to fellow colleagues! How blessed we are to have the privilege to create a school together that makes a difference in the lives of our students! Thank you!!

News & Notes
* Jean Fundraiser - From Morgan Gibbs: Do you like to wear jeans? Do you like to give back? Well listen up! The Junior League of Bryan-College Station is participating in a movement called Tampon Tuesday. Tampon Tuesday originated in London when a group of women discovered that many women were having to go without feminine products due to the financial strain, and, unfortunately, that problem is world wide. Feminine products are the LEAST donated item, and they are NOT covered by financial assistance programs. We are collecting feminine hygiene items to donate to the Brazos Valley Food Bank, and we want YOUR help! Bring a box of any type of feminine hygiene product to school before Tuesday, February 2, and be able to wear JEANS on Wednesday, February 3rd. You can drop your products off to Morgan Gibbs in room 501, and to receive your jean pass. Thanks!
*Campus Council: Campus Council reps, please make sure to discuss agenda items with your team. Of note, we talked about tightening up on our campus procedures to ensure that all staff members are reinforcing campus expectations. As a staff, we need to continue to be on our game to ensure our students are academically and behaviorally successful. This quote is so true: "There are rarely immediate consequences for neglecting a single installment of time." I think we can think of personal situations that are great examples. If I miss my work out session one time, no big deal. If I get in the habit of missing over time, big deal! Our GP Commitments ring true as each moment of the day is important. Maximizing instructional time, adhering to recess time, reinforcing campus behavior expectations may not make a huge impact "letting it go" in one instance. But over time, a single installment of time/investment can make a difference.
*GP Handbook: We have new method students, student teachers and other district guests that are in our building. Please remind them of our campus expectation to be present when we are with our students. Please especially share with them our campus expectation on the use of cell phones. When students are present, we are present which includes classroom time, recess, duty and assemblies such as Sing-A-Long. If you have regular district staff and/or A&M students, please share our GP expectations with them.
