Centers
Enrichment Centers:
- Topic Study: We made a bit of an overhaul in Topic Study. Students are conferencing with me individually to select projects based on Bloom's Level of Thinking. We are discussing Bloom's thinking and selecting projects that will help us answer our essential questions. The topic study menu will no longer drive our learning. Students will determine what level of thinking the project represents and then write their own scoring guide (with guidance). Each student will select a verb to correspond with a level of thinking (apply, analyze, evaluate, create). The project or product will be based on your child's learning style (kinesthetic, visual, written/ oral, logical and mathematical, etc.)
- Critical Thinking: We finished Common bonds
- Google Sites - My Tuesday and Wednesday classes created a personal Google Site to house a PEAK portfolio.
- Math - My Thursday class piloted a new math program called Alcumus. It is a problem solving program that adjusts to your child's learning speed and difficulty in math problem solving. The kids completed 50 minutes of problem solving. This will be a choice for math instead of Problemoids. The math is difficult. Your child can choose either ALcumus or Problemoids after testing the program. My Tuesday and Wednesday classes will try it next week.
