Free and Reduced Lunch- (see if you qualify and save money for Christmas!!)
FYI, for most Federal and State purposes, the free and reduced percentage of enrollment as of the end of October is the number used for most statistics. The district would like this percentage to be as high as possible (legally of course) as it affects district monies separate from the school meal program. As of today, with our current enrollment, we need 12 more students on meal benefits to match last year's end of October percentage.
Some things that we were reminded of, and I wanted to pass along:
Anyone can apply. Foster children and families on Food Stamps can complete an application just on the foster or food stamp status. They will qualify for free meals. Families taking in a foster child can count the foster child as a member of the household which may allow other children in the household to qualify for reduced meals.
Families who are displaced or meet the homeless criteria (contact Student Services)qualify for free meals.
All others may be able to qualify for either free or reduced meals by income and household size.
Families whose application was denied at the beginning of the school year may now qualify if current income drops or household size increases.
This time of year, most applications are processed the same day received in the Food Service Office.

Box Tops for Education: Help us WIN!!
All the money comes right back to our classroom for me to spend on the students. I usually buy things like books, math manipulatives, and this year I am looking into buying a program called MobyMax that the kids LOVED. The free sample is over and despite getting great data from the program we were unable to use district funds for it, so I would LOVE to collect enough box tops to continue using all the great features the kids enjoyed!
Each box top you send in is worth 10 cents for us to spend. It doesn't sound like much, but they can really add up. Ask relatives and friends if they have any extra box tops they aren't using. Most people don't mind cutting them out and saving them if you ask:)
