A Message From The Principals
Sandy Bermea - Principal
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Let me begin with saying that Potranco faculty and staff miss our students. We are embarking on a new journey to provide the students with online instruction. I know this is completely out of the norm for all of us, but together we will serve our students to the best of our ability. Which if you know Potranco staff, is top notch. As we move forward during this difficult time, our goal at Potranco is to improve each day.
The district’s Curriculum Department has been instrumental in providing guidance and the curriculum for all Medina Valley elementaries. We will continue to follow this direction. The teachers are also working tirelessly to make adjustments to the online learning platform to make it more user friendly for you and your child.
There are two options for learning: online learning and paper packet. The district is not allowing both paper packets and the online learning platform. You must choose one option. The paper packet option is to be utilized only if you do not have the internet, a device and/or both. Be mindful that the paper packet option involves person to person exchange and handling. I need your assistance in reducing social contact to ensure the health and safety of our students, your family, and Potranco staff.
If you need a paper packet, you must make your initial request by Thursday at 9:00 am. Requests need to be emailed to me, Mrs. Bermea, at sandy.bermea@mvisd.org. I will not accept requests beyond this time. If you request a paper packet, please make your best effort to scan or send pictures of the completed work to your child’s teacher.
Again, the online learning platform is the first and preferred option. I encourage you to move to the online learning platform as you will receive timely feedback, interaction, and flexibility. I say flexibility because we know there will be connectivity, technology, and time issues. We understand and want to work with you. Another extremely important benefit of online learning is the reduction of social contact.
Thank you for your patience and understanding. Communicate with your child’s teacher throughout the process for questions and concerns through email or communication app ( Remind, Bloomz, ClassDojo etc). You can also find up to date district information regarding online learning and COVID-19 at https://www.mvisd.com/covid.
Estimados Padres y Guardianes,
Audrey White - Vice Principal
Ms. White here just wanting to extend well wishes to all of my Potranco students and family. I,myself, along with the Potranco staff are missing you all being on campus everyday! I want you to know that just because you are out of sight, you are NOT out of mind. Everyday we are still working to do what's best for all of our students. Remember that we are all in this experience together and we will get through it. I look forward to seeing some of your faces this week with videos and pictures blowing bubbles for Autism. We ask that you do this from your home to keep social distance. Don't forget to wear your blue, and Mrs. Bermea, myself and our new Vice Principal Ms. Estrella will join you too on Thursday at 2:00 via Facebook live.
Brenda Estrella-Pagan - Vice Principal
Greetings Everyone,
I’m truly excited about joining the Potranco family. Although we haven’t personally met, I want you to know that everyday we’re thinking of you and continuously looking for ways to support you through this new season. As Mrs. Bermea and Ms. White said, we’re ALL learning together and there’s no doubt in my mind that although the circumstances are challenging, we will come out stronger than ever. We thank you for your patience and flexibility. Looking forward to meeting you all soon!
Blowing Bubbles for Autism
Bubbles are symbols of joy, hope, and laughter. They bring people together. When we blow bubbles for Autism, together we create an awareness of families and students facing Autism. During this time of distance, we would like to show our continued Potranco unity. To do this we will be blowing bubbles in celebration of the many unique talents and gifts that we ALL bring to the Potranco family. Join us live on Facebook at 2:00 p.m., as we blow bubbles across the sky as messages of hope. We ask that you show your support from your home and share your footage ( videos and/or pictures) with your classroom teacher or on the campus Facebook page. Remember for safety, please do not gather for participation in this event.
