Westbrook School
May 29, 2020
From the Principal...
Dear Westbrook Families,
Westbrook is such a special place because of our students, families, and staff. When we left school in March, we had no way of knowing that we would not return for the rest of the school year. The Westbrook community continued to come together and support each other. Although our year has come to an end, we have so much to celebrate! Our students demonstrated resilience and perseverance. They continued to ask questions, wonder about the world around them, practice gratitude, stretch their brains, and spread kindness. We are grateful for our families who partnered with us during this time (and always!). We want to thank our incredible PTO and all of the volunteers who helped make this year special by helping in the library and at centers, spreading a love for reading by joining us as mystery readers, encouraging healthy eating through Tasty Bites, offering enriching assemblies, talking about careers to our youngest learners, and the list goes on and on! We are also fortunate to have strong partnerships with the Mount Prospect Public Library, MP Fire Department, and MP Police Department. I also want to recognize our incredible staff for working collaboratively and creatively to create meaningful and engaging learning experiences to help our students to grow in a number of ways.
We wish you and your families the very best. May your summers be filled with love, laughter, and play!
Celebrating a Wonderful Year - We are all in this TOGETHER!
We have so much to celebrate! The Westbrook staff wanted to create a video for our students and families to celebrate the school year. Thank you!!
Thank you to Rebecca Connelly, our music teacher, and her husband, Mike, for putting together the video for our families!
End of the Year Supply Pick-Up and Drop-Off
Please see the attachment to find out more information regarding supply pick-up and drop-off. All families will have materials that will need to be picked up, unless you hear otherwise from your child’s teacher.
For Kindergarten-1st grade, supply pick-up/drop/off will take place on June 1st and June 2nd.
Get Ready for Next Year!
We are so sad to have this year come to an end, but exciting things are bound to happen in the fall!! Attached are social stories for the upcoming year. These stories include pictures of staff that your child will have the opportunity to work with in their upcoming school year.
Summer Learning
We have consolidated all the remote learning menus in one place, so families can easily access lessons they would like to review throughout the summer. Students can also access their IXL (Reading and Math) and BrainPOP online accounts until July 24th, when scheduled online maintenance will occur.
