Last Call to Complete Skyward Back to School Forms
All families should log into Skyward user their guardian login and complete back to school forms. If you do not know your guardian login you can contact the OCEAN office.
Back to school forms include the option to opt out of sharing your directory information. Starting on October 1 we will be creating the OCEAN school directory that shares students names, and guardian phone and emails. This is a great resource for building community, but we know that not everyone wants their information shared. Opt out by completing the Skyward form or completing a paper form in the OCEAN office.
Attendance
Families should report excused student absences to the OCEAN office at oceanattendance@ptschools.org or by calling the main office.
Family Partnership Program attendance is taken daily for all class periods. If a student has an unexcused absence families will receive notification. Attendance for all scheduled classes is essential for student success.
Washington State Healthy Youth Survey 2023
Our school is participating in the Washington State Healthy Youth Survey during fall 2023. The survey will be given to students in Grades 6 through 12. The Healthy Youth Survey includes questions related to physical activity and diet, unintentional and intentional injury, substance use, sexual behaviors, abuse, risk and protective factors, and access to school-based services. Survey results are used by schools, communities, and state agencies to plan programs to support our youth and reduce their risks. Participation in the survey is voluntary and the students’ answers are anonymous. There are no codes or information used to match a survey to a student. Please read the attached Parent and Student Notification Letter for more information about the Healthy Youth Survey.

Information from previous newsletters:
School Safety: ALICE Safety Drill
In the next few weeks students will be participating in a review of the ALICE protocols to utilize in the event of a school emergency regarding intruders and school shootings. The review will be age appropriate. For elementary students we will discuss how to follow directions in an emergency. Middle school and high school students will review decision making in emergency situations.
On Monday, September 25th, our students will practice this type of safety scenario through a discussion of lockdown and evacuation, including practicing the decision making during times of crisis. Our goal is not to create fear, but to provide reminders of the importance of how to respond during a violent intruder event. We never use scare tactics during scenario drill training. We want this experience to be a positive one for our students. While it can make some feel a bit anxious, it is important for students to understand how to make these choices when faced with an emergency situation. Further, I encourage you to talk with your middle or high school student at home about their understanding of the ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate) principles, and what strategies they can share with you, about our safety protocols. Elementary age students will not be on campus during the ALICE practice session.
