A look at happenings at First United Methodist Church Sealy

This Sunday, Sept. 27: Final week of our series on the Holy Spirit

Pastor Curtis concludes our September sermon series on the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:1-13).

We have a Sunday School Game Plan! Super-duper Sunday School teacher Nicole Poenitzsch has been a HUGE blessing to our First UMC Children's Church. As her family continues to grow, she is no longer available to teach our children every Sunday, BUT, she will continue to teach the last weekend of the month.

She has also volunteered coordinate Children's Church and will hold a brief training for the rest of us on the curriculum we use.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE join us this Sunday, Sept. 27, after the 10 am Church Service for a teacher training. Bring your calendars too ... so that we can all pick a Sunday to volunteer.

Upcoming Sermon Series: Earn. Save. Give.

You’re probably used to hearing people in church talk about giving. But when was the last time in church that you talked about earning or saving? Is it unchristian to earn money? Is it wrong to save for ourselves and our families?

John Wesley didn’t think so. Wesley, the Christian evangelist and founder of the Methodist movement, gave a remarkable sermon called “The Use of Money.” In it, he said that the important thing isn’t money itself but how we use it. Wesley’s surprising advice still rings true today: earn all you can, save all you can, give all you can.

Join us during the month of October as we explore together Wesley’s surprising advice.

T-shirts will be sold in his memory at the game, with part of the proceeds going to the TJ Mills Endowment Fund. TJ Mills was passionate about seeing a YMCA building in Sealy.
