celebrating 26 years of excellence in catholic education

Theme for the Year: Hope

Big picture

At St. Joseph Catholic School, each and every day we are training students to be missionary disciples, and learning to recognize God in our lives and in the world around us,

full of HOPE for the future.

Our Mission and Vision Statements

St. Joseph Catholic School provides students with a nurturing and prayerful learning environment committed to academic excellence, training missionary disciples to seek virtue, wisdom, and truth, in partnership with a community of active and faithful families.

Catholic schools in the Diocese of Fort Worth are committed to opening the doors so that our students can reach further than the walls that would otherwise enclose them and therefore are able to recognize and cherish the eternal and transcendental goods of Truth, Beauty, and Goodness.

Teaching the Mind...Nourishing the Soul

From the principal

Fr. Kennedy explained to us at Mass on Wednesday, that this week is the Week of the Poor in the Catholic church. We are to focus on helping those who need the help, the poor and the destitute. I can say our Knight families are doing just that when I see all the glorious food donations we are receiving through the NJHS Food Drive happening this week. Your generosity during such a trying time is truly beautiful and has touched our hearts deeply.

We were also challenged by Fr. Kennedy to find new ways to celebrate Thanksgiving this year, since many of us are not gathering in groups as we normally would. He invited us to use this time to explore creative ways to help others, offering our service in thanksgiving for all we have.

We faculty and staff are thankful for all the good things happening at SJCS. Laughter in the classrooms and smiles on the playground, tell me that our students are as well. In just one more day, everyone will have a much deserved week away from the routines of school. It is my prayer for this community to experience the Thanksgiving Holiday with joy, laughter, and smiles; remembering to pray for those in need and for those who are hurting at this time.

In Christ's service,

Diane Price, M.Ed.L.

Big picture
Congratulations to Dane Varga, our November 8th Grade Student of the Month Award Recipient! Dane leads by example in how he treats others. He has good manners and is always respectful. He has a true desire to learn and cares about his education. He works to use all the gifts God has given him, including his gift of kindness, as he is kind to others and always tells his teachers to have a good day. Thank you for your missionary discipleship, Dane! Bravo!

Monday Morning Prayer Service

Mrs. Govlik's Kindergarten class did an outstanding job leading the school community in prayer this past week! You are all serving others and spreading the Word of God, as we are called to do. Our Knights learn to present themselves to others with confidence. Well done!

Little Gobbler - Preschool and Kindergarten Virtual Open House

Today was our first ever virtual open house! Thank you Mrs. Gallagher and Mrs. Doskocil for starting things off with some fun for our guests! Nothing like a little Turkey Hokey Pokey and storytime to make everyone smile. Thanks to all the faculty who welcomed us into their rooms, and for Mrs. Doering being our camera person. Mrs. Do's class even performed for us! Thank you, everyone! We hope to have some personal tours come from this event.

Moments Captured

We have the best volleyball players and the best coaches any school could ever ask for! I know this, because these students are Knights, and these are Knight parents. We are forever grateful for both.

3rd Grade: Paper Collage Animals

4th Grade: Paper Portraits - Collage Faces

Thank you for your dedication to art, Mr. Suarez. These are fabulous, Knights!

During the STREAM Enrichment Challenge this week, students had to show their knowledge of making a Thanksgiving dinner menu, then develop their shopping list of ingredients to cook the dinner, and then create the plate of food! Talk about following a line of thought through to the end...great thinking skills and creativity, Knights.

Updated STREAM Wish List

STREAM classes are in need of the following items, if you are able to help. Remember Items bought for STREAM class can be used for service hours!

  • Mini candy canes
  • Baking Soda
  • Vinegar
  • Styrofoam plates
  • Small Marshmallows
  • Gum Drops or Dots Candy
  • Aluminum Foil Sheets
  • Small Dixie Cups

THANK YOU from the STREAM TEAM!!! Happy Thanksgiving!!

RoboKnights, we are preparing to begin! We hope some of our 6th through 8th grade students will be interested in joining this after school club. Mrs. Grove will be reaching out to our families soon, to see who would like to participate. Our numbers are limited this year, due to COVID-19 restrictions, but we are still planning to compete!

Greenhouse Update

Big picture
We are very fortunate to have the St. Joseph Men's Club, St. Vincent de Paul Men's Club, and the Knights of Columbus support the school's efforts in bringing the gift of nature and gardening to our students. They have tilled the ground and are developing plans for the beds. We have even had some former alumni Knights (Sam and Henry Doskocil) run the tiller! This is truly a group effort, and I could not be more grateful, thankful, and blessed for their support. Our students will soon be experiencing God in nature. I cannot wait!

COVID-19 Daily Home Screening Required for Students

Parents: Please be sure to complete this short screening each morning. If none of these apply to your child, you may come to school. Please contact the school if your child is sick or has been exposed to a positive COVID-19 individual. We will guide you on what next steps to take regarding your return date to campus.

SECTION 1: Symptoms

If your child has any of the following symptoms, that indicates a possible illness that may decrease the student’s ability to learn and also put them at risk for spreading illness to others. Please check your child for these symptoms:

1. Temperature 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or higher when taken by mouth

2. Sore throat

3. New uncontrolled cough that causes difficulty breathing (for students with chronic allergic/asthmatic cough, a change in their cough from baseline)

4. Diarrhea, vomiting, or abdominal pain

5. New onset of severe headache, especially with a fever

SECTION 2: Close Contact/Potential Exposure

1. Had close contact (within 6 feet of an infected person for at least 15 minutes) with a person with confirmed COVID-19
