Thanks to everyone for being patient with us. The carline is already flowing quickly. We all appreciate you having your tag displayed-if you need another one let us know! If you have been parking and walking your child in, it's time to tell them goodbye in the carline now. They are big Kindergarteners now and when you allow them to get out like a big kid-it makes them feel important! Also, if you have been parking and coming to get your child after school, please start picking them up in the carline. Parking at our school is minimal-we don't want any child to get hurt and cars going in and out of the limited parking area is dangerous. Our carline is being run very well and as everyone learns cars and names it will go even faster. Having Beyond the Bell has helped with the numbers. If you see anyone coming in the front door at these times, please be aware they have special permission for good reasons.
Thank you for making sure your child is getting to school on time. Remember, we are going to stop the excessive absences at William Gay Early Childhood Center because all of us want our children to get the best possible start in their educational journey. Chronic absences will have a negative affect on any child. Kindergarten and Pre-K is where it all begins!! If you have Pre-K children--make sure they are going as well. Pre-K makes Kindergarten much easier because it teaches children how school operates and definitely gives them an advantage.
Your child will start taking assessments next week that will give us an idea of what they know and what they need to learn. Your child's teacher is already getting them ready to read and understand math! All of you should be very thankful that your child is in great hands. The teachers and paraprofessionals at William Gay are exceptional! Mrs. Cornish, our counselor is wonderful and always ready to help you if you need her. The cooks lovingly prepare each meal and the custodians are some of the best in town! Our secretary, Mrs. Landrum, or Miss T is amazing!! Your children are blessed to have such caring, loving people with them daily.
Read to your child every chance you get and make sure they are getting plenty of rest! A tired child is not usually a happy one. Thanks again for trusting us with your children--everyone here wants the best for them and for you. Thanks for keeping in contact with us if you have concerns. We cannot fix a problem if we don't know we have one!! Have a great weekend!!
