John & Julie Pennell Bio
John has had considerable success as a songwriter with recordings by Alison Krauss ('Every Time You Say Goodbye', 'Jacob's Dream', 'Too Late To Cry', Dark Skies' among others), Alan Jackson('Meat And Potato Man' As Lovely As You'), Eva Cassidy('If I Give My Heart'), The Infamous Stringdusters('Fork In The Road', IBMA Song Of The Year 2007),Dan Tyminski('Carry Me Across The Mountain') and many others.
Julie hails from North Bay Ontario and has established herself as a very talented songwriter in the Canadian bluegrass circuit, with cuts of her songs including," A Sinner's Plea", and "Counting Fenceposts".
Professionally, John has played upright bass with Alison Krauss, Harley Allen, Chris Jones, Vassar Clements, Charlie Sizemore and Dave Peterson. The two started their duo at the beginning of 2010 and have played locally in Nashville as well as at various clubs and house concerts around the country.
Julie and John Pennell perform their own, original music, with some well selected covers thrown in. They currently live in Nashville, TN.
