Distance Learning Updates and Announcements, April 24, 2020
A Message from Principal Ghereben
I hope you were able to find some rest and down time as a family over the Spring Break as we transition back to Distance Learning this week. I know many of us had to cancel our travel plans we may have had scheduled, and had to become quite creative with spending Spring Break sheltered in place. It's definitely been a time of reflection for me!
As we settle back into a Distance Learning routine (if we have yet found one), it's important to remind students the importance of checking in daily with their classroom teacher using the platform/s that you have been directed to use. With 5 weeks left of the school year, we will be working hard to continue to engage students through Distance Learning with your support and partnership.
Just a few reminders as we head into May;
- Please let your teacher know if your child is ill/sick during the school week. Teachers are still taking attendance, and making note of when students checking in them.
Our school website continues to be updated daily! Please check out our new Distance Learning Hub where you can find any and all information and resources related to distance learning at Proctor.
If you need any type of assistance, please reach out to your teacher or complete this confidential form: Click Here. We review this document daily, and will contact you to help provide you with any support you may have! ANY!
Teachers are learning and experimenting with new technologies; some are more comfortable with this than others, which is why Distance Learning instruction may differ grade level to grade level, or classroom to classroom. While we expect instruction, checking for understanding, and general check-ins (individually, whole-class, or small groups) we don’t expect teachers to use specific platforms and/or technologies, etc at this time.
Staff "On-Call" hours are 8:00 to 3:00 M-Th and 8:00-12:00 ("Mindfulness Fridays") Questions, etc.. can be submitted whenever you have them, but you may not hear from them outside of these times, so please be patient.
Many of our staff members are facing the same daily challenges - working remotely and supporting their child or children with their Distance Learning assignments. We are all in this together! Thank you for your patience, understanding and support as our staff is navigating this journey with you.
Stay Well, and Healthy!

4th and 5th Grade Curriculum Pick-Up/Drop-Off, April 29th!
This will ONLY be for the 4th and 5th grade teachers. All other grade levels will communicate to you if there are additional resources or curriculum packets needed to be picked up. At this time, most grade levels have gone completely online without the need to hand-out extra curriculum, but this varies grade level to grade level. So please refer your questions concerning student work to your classroom teacher.
When: Wednesday, April 29th between the hours of 12:00 PM and 8:00 PM
Where: Proctor Lower Parking Lot, Drop-Off Zone
Please note that there will be no teachers or staff supervising this curriculum pick-up/drop-off day. Please park your car and walk to the designated grade level boxes located along the Drop off zone (using social distancing) to pick-up your child's packet/folder which will be clearly labeled. Use the additional labeled box to drop off your child's completed work.
Virtual "Save the Earth" Week April 27th - April 30th!
Each day, take a photo of you and/or your family in action doing something that benefits our local environment. (Reuse, Recycle, Reduce, gardening/composting, sorting recyclables, etc).
Upload a photo each day here for our school to share!
There are lots of ways you can still be kind to our Earth while sheltering in place. I can't wait to see how creative you can be!
