HOLY ROSARY NEWSLETTER
Term 1 Week 2 - 15 February 2019
MESSAGE FROM MARK
Dear Parents/Guardians
I hope you had a lovely Valentines Day Yesterday!
As we continue to embrace Making Jesus Real ever more deeply we realise the he is all around us, always. There is much comfort to be had from this knowledge of the presence of Christ..
Thank you for attending the information sessions on Tuesday. We continue to refine these presentations every year in order to make them as useful as possible. Procedural information should have been received by you as a hard copy last Friday, in order to make the meetings more focused on what the year holds. We appreciate feedback on the meetings as it assists us in our school improvement journey.
Next week looks awesome! Our first assembly hosted by Year Four Catherine is on Friday February 22 at 8.55am. As well as their item, we will be including a number of class Merit Awards. Recipients are included in today’s newsletter. Also, our Student Leaders for 2019 will be presented with their badges. We hope to see big numbers of you there to celebrate with us!
Then, the Holy Rosary Community Welcome Back Sundowner is also on Friday from 4:30-7:00. This was so much fun last year! Hopefully many families can swing by.
Finally, on Sunday February 24, the Parish’s 60th anniversary celebration, with Mass at 10 followed by morning tea marks a milestone in our community. Again, it would be fantastic to see a big contingent in attendance.
Have a nice weekend.
Mark de Kluyver
Principal

FAREWELL MRS ROSEMARY LEDGER
Rosemary Ledger, long time teacher and parent at Holy Rosary, is retiring after nearly twenty five years of service to our community. Rosemary has been away from school for some time and continues to receive treatment for her illness, and has now decided to take this decision.
Rosemary is great fun. We thank Rosemary for all of her dedication, commitment and love of our school and of all our children here, and wish her only good outcomes as she continues on her journey. You are in our prayers Rosemary.

FAMILY INFORMATION FORMS
Please see below for Information and Permission forms.
These forms should be returned to the School Office no later than Friday 22nd February.
The FAMILY DETAILS FORM should be filled in if there are any changes to the details you have previously given us. It is very important that we have updated phone numbers, email addresses and Emergency Contact details. Your child's well being is very important to us.
The MEDICAL INFORMATION FORM only needs to be filled in if your child has a medical condition. If your child has an EMERGENCY ACTION PLAN for a medical condition (e.g. anaphylaxis, asthma) parents/guardians are responsible for supplying the paperwork to the school and updating it as necessary, including medication that has expired. There should be a new Action Plan each year and they MUST be signed by a doctor.

Holy Rosary Swimming Trials 2019
Location: HBF Stadium
The Holy Rosary 2019 Swimming Trials will be held on Monday April 1st at HBF Stadium for students in Year 3 – 6. Students will travel to the venue in buses leaving school at 9 am therefore please make sure all children are in the classroom at 8:30am on Monday. The trials are due to start at 9:25am at the indoor pool.
On the day all students should arrive at school in their sports uniform, wearing their bathers underneath. Students are to have a towel, their lunch, drink and cap. They will not be permitted to purchase food at the venue.
Students will return to school by buses, Year 3 and Siena children will leave early at around 11:30am. The rest of the buses will depart HBF Stadium at 1:45pm unless otherwise organised with the school. They may change out of bathers once they return to school. The school day will finish at the normal time.
The 25m events will start from the shallow end of the pool and swim to the centre of the pool to a noodle finish line. This means in the 25m events students may choose to dive off of the blocks if they are strong swimmers or they may dive off the edge of the pool in freestyle and breaststroke if they have less confidence. Backstroke events will be a traditional water start.
The purpose of the trials is to help place students in Year 3 -6 into divisions for the faction carnival in Term 4 and to help determine the Holy Rosary Interschool Swimming Squad for Years 4-6. Year 3 Students do not compete in the interschool competition.
If for any reason parents would like their child not to swim just write on the permission slip when returning it to class or contact me at anytime Robert.flexman@cewa.edu.au to discuss the situation.
I have sent home permission slips this week please hand these back to your classroom teacher by February 28. If you are able to assist on the day please fill out the section in the permission slip for parent helpers on the form.
