Principal's Message
Dear Parents/Carers,
Welcome to our Week 3 newsletter.
Thank you
I'd like to personally thank our amazing school community for supporting our first SRC fundraiser last week, Maddie Rewoldt's Vision. Our Year 2 SRC Representative Lily put forward this worthy cause that raises money to find a cure for Bone Marrow Failure Syndrome.
I'd also like to extend my gratitude to our school P&C. Over 354 special people in our students' lives will be attending our Mother's Day Picnic this Friday. This is a wonderful opportunity to connect as a school community and make unforgettable memories with our children. This event would not have been possible without the relentless support and commitment of Bree Wade our President, Amanda Grigg, Abby Dabit, Kristy Carter and Mandy Scuglia.
I'd also like to acknowledge the support of members of our school community and local businesses for making this fundraiser a huge success. Thank you Aldi and Ashcroft's at Erskine Park who provided us with significant discounts to ensure that as a P&C we raise as much money as possible to support the learning and wellbeing of our students. Thank you Louise Huggett who has created beautiful Mother's Day gifts, Tilipity Norman for organising a generous donation from Lindt as well as Norma Degirogio and Marisa Mahmik for supporting our P&C with catering. The following local businesses have also donated generously. I'd like to say thank you to:
- Lady Bug Soaps
- Personalee Yours
- Gorgeous Grazing
- Oncloud Brinckley and
- Elegant Prop Hire.
A community event of this magnitude does not happen over night. I am truly grateful for the endless hours of planning and preparation from our school P&C as well as the support from our school community.
Cuppa with the Principal
I am very much looking forward to this week's Cuppa with the Principal on:
- Thursday 6th May at 2:00 -2:45 pm and
- Friday 7th May at 8:45 am - 9:30 am.
Both sessions will be held in the hall. Tea, coffee and light refreshments will be served. Toddlers are welcome to attend.
I will be introducing the team at Go Bananas, our on site Before and After School Care provider. They will be commencing on school premises in the coming weeks.
They will be sharing key information about their service including:
- Their philosophy
- Enrollment
- Routines
- Menu
- Fees
- Inclusions and
- Opening Hours
They will also answer any additional questions that you may have.
I know that Go Bananas are looking forward to meeting all our amazing families and building strong partnerships with our great school community.
Year 5 Entry to an Opportunity Class in 2022
Just a reminder that online applications for Year 5 placement in an opportunity class in 2022 will close this Friday 7th May 2021. Parents and carers need to apply online through the Selective Schools and Opportunity Classes website:
https://education.nsw.gov.au/public-schools/selective-high-schools-and-opportunity-classes/year-5
Thank you for your ongoing support.
Kind regards,
Yvonne Quinlan
Spotlight on Learning
At JEPS, we have a strong sporting tradition. I'd like to congratulate our senior boys soccer team who represented our school at the State Knockout Competition. They played Clairgate Public School. Unfortunately they lost 4-2. Their strong sportsmanship was acknowledged by the staff at Clairgate Public School. I'd like to thank Mrs Cicciarelli for providing our students with the opportunity to showcase their sporting talents.
NCCD - National Consistent Collection of Data on Students with Disability
Every year, all schools in Australia participate in the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD). The NCCD process requires schools to identify information already available in the school about supports provided to students with disability. These relate to legislative requirements under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 and the Disability Standards for Education 2005, in line with the NCCD guidelines (2019).
Information provided about students to the Australian Government for the NCCD includes:
- year of schooling
- category of disability: physical, cognitive, sensory or social/emotional
- level of adjustment provided: support provided within quality differentiated teaching practice, supplementary, substantial or extensive.
This information assists schools to:
- formally recognise the supports and adjustments provided to students with disability in schools
- consider how they can strengthen the support of students with disability in schools
- develop shared practices so that they can review their learning programs in order to improve educational outcomes for students with disability.
The NCCD provides state and federal governments with the information they need to plan more broadly for the support of students with disability.
The NCCD will have no direct impact on your child and your child will not be involved in any testing process. The school will provide data to the Australian Government in such a way that no individual student will be able to be identified – the privacy and confidentiality of all students is ensured. All information is protected by privacy laws that regulate the collection, storage and disclosure of personal information. To find out more about these matters, please refer to the Australian Government’s Privacy Policy (https://www.education.gov.au/privacy-policy).
Further information about the NCCD can be found within the NCCD Data Fact Sheet that is attached below.
If you have any questions about the NCCD, please contact the school.
P&C News
We’d like to personally thank our wonderful community for supporting our school fundraiser this Friday. We are looking forward to welcoming 354 guests to our Mother’s Day picnic. Due to current and forecasted weather conditions, we need to limit attendance to this event to those who have RSVP and paid prior to the cut off date. This cut off date was made to allow sufficient time to organise catering.
Final organisational details will be communicated this Thursday afternoon via email and Facebook informing our families of possible wet weather alternatives. Thank you once again for your support and understanding.
