Library Lady Leak v. 8
Busy, Busy, Busy!
The Amazing Reading Race has begun and the current results are posted on the bulletin board in the library. We have highlighted the top earner for each class and also the total earned by each classroom. Ms. Orsak is the current leader. Way to go!
Adopt-A-Shelf has officially begun. So far we have had two regular assistants and three others who have submitted their paperwork and I am hoping they will begin next week. Students in grades 3-5 can come before school from 7:45-8:15 to fix and/or shelve books, sharpen pencils, deliver books to teachers, help with book displays and bulletin boards. Students also have the option to volunteer in the library on PDR day if they have been approved as an Adopt-A-Shelfer. Students have to be recommended by the teacher as someone who is responsible enough for the position. Students who work in the library will also earn a Library Helper Reading Tag.
Thank you to Colleen Dominguez for your support and encouragement!
Thank you to Ms. Velazquez, Ms. Ottosen, and Ms. Wilson for their kind words that help me feel like maybe I am doing something right.
Thank you to everyone for sending students with their id badges and conduct cards to the library.

ROCKETS Read Nation
"The Rockets are creating a nation of boys and girls who love to read, and we're doing it one book and one child at a time. Rockets Read Nation events are fun, interactive and entertaining reading activities at schools and charities, where each child receives age appropriate books of their own to help fuel their love of reading and create their own library."
We have been accepted to participate in this program. I hope to receive more information on how it works so that I can pass that on to you and our students.
