Valentine Fun
Thank you to the wonderful moms who planned our Valentine party. The children and I had a great time!
Dr. Suess Day is Coming!
We will be celebrating Dr. Suess Day on Thursday, March 3rd, which is Dr. Suess's birthday! Refer to the flyer which was sent home for more detailed information.
Language Arts
We have finished reading Loser by Jerry Spinelli. The students really enjoyed the book, and they learned wonderful lessons about how to treat others. We celebrated by having a snack of Snickerdoodles, which are the main character's favorite cookie! The children created "Character Ties" for Donald Zinkoff. They did a great job. Stop by and see them hanging in our hallway. We have gone back to our Lead 21 book. We will are in Unit 7.
Social Studies
We have finished our study of the Midwest, which included our Illinois Unit. The students completed individual projects. I am so impressed with their work! They were very interested in learning about our region of the country and Illinois. Now we are on to the Southwest . We have much to cover before switching back to science for the last quarter.
Religion
Our activities and study are focused on ways to help others (service projects) and the Liturgical Season of Lent. We will participate in the Stations of the Cross, receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation. and learn about the events of Holy Week. The next mass fourth grade will be planning is March 9th.
Math
The students are tackling fractions; finding equivalents, simplifying, comparing, ordering, adding and subtracting. They are doing a great job. Our 4th Grade St. Isidore Site has been updated with links to practice most of these skills. Have your child show you what he/she can do with fractions! Knowing multiplication and division facts is vital when working with fractions. Please keep practicing facts with your child.
