Weekly Update
Today marks the end of the 1st grading period. It is hard to believe how fast this year is going already. There have been many great things happening at Saint Lawrence so far this year. Many different field trips to farms, museums, plays, and the 8th grade retreat that have provided our students with many different opportunities for fun and learning. Thank you for all of your support in making our students education meaningful and effective.
In recent years, we have dealt with Covid protocols that really changed the landscape of our students school experience. Although we are not dealing with any protocols anymore, we are about to enter the worst time of year for illnesses of all varieties. As the air conditioning changes to furnaces, it never fails that people start to come down with different ailments. It is important that your children are getting enough sleep at night, eating well balanced meals, and also practicing good hygiene to help protect them from sickness this fall and winter.
Additionally, in helping keep our children safe, please make sure that you are following the procedures for drop-off in the morning. Do not enter our property off of 46th street after 7:15am. This has started to become an issue. Also, please be mindful that even though your child may be out of your car and in the school safely, other children are still walking. Please drive carefully through our lots. Today, I am unsure as to who it was, but a car was flying through our lots during drop-off and it was a very dangerous situation for some students and fellow drivers. Please remind anyone who may be dropping off your child to drive safely and follow the procedures for the safety of everyone.
Another item that we can really use your help with is the bringing of store bought food and beverage items into the school for breakfast. There are several issues that are starting to develop. Not only is it making a mess when it spills on the carpet, but several times teachers have heard students "lording it over" others with the older students that "my mom has the money to buy me Starbucks and yours doesn't". You are certainly welcome to make the stop for those items on the way to school, I am just asking that they are finished prior to exiting the vehicles and being brought into the building.

Project Outdoor Nativity Scene (LAST WEEKEND TO ORDER)!
In this secular society, the true meaning of the Christmas season has been diminished or dismissed altogether. Join St. Lawrence Catholic School (as well as parishes and schools around central Indiana) to bring back outdoor nativity scenes! It's our hope that the nativity scenes will serve to brighten up our neighborhoods and remind our children of the importance of the Holy Family in the Christmas season.
The cost is $110.00 per kit. For each sale, $20 will go towards faith formation materials for the parish. The deadline to order is Monday, October 10
Kit distribution will begin the week of Thanksgiving. For more information and an image of what they look like, please click the image below. Payment can be submitted online using the QR code or with a check/cash along with the order form at the school office.
