Resources for remote learning

During these extraordinary times the HHS Media Center is working closely with staff and students to gather resources to make your online learning experience as productive as possible. Take a couple minutes to look through the resources below. Feel free to email me if you have questions about resources. Stay safe. Stay healthy.

Mr. Robitaille

HHS Library website

The Hudson High School library website is chock full of digital resources to help you complete assignments, conduct research, and download reading materials.

The library website contains a sizeable collection of databases and e-resources. These resources can be used to conduct research, borrow ebooks and audiobooks, and access streaming educational videos. Most of these resources require a special login, which can be found on the Databases & eResources password sheet on the library webpage.

The library website also contains links to Sora ebooks and audiobooks and Flipster digital magazines. More information about these free services can be found below.

Current library book loans

Many HHS students currently have library books checked out. You are welcome to continue enjoying these books without fear of overdues or fines. Please plan to return these materials when school resumes. During the school shutdown you can ignore any emails you receive from the library regarding overdue books.

Sora ebooks and audiobooks

It is unfortunate that you have more time than ever to read books for pleasure at the same time that all of the libraries are closed down. Never fear! Your HHS library subscribes to a substantial repository of popular ebooks and audiobooks that you can borrow for free on any internet-enabled device. Meet Sora!

Borrowing ebooks and audiobooks on Sora is incredibly easy. You can access Sora on a web browser or through the free Sora app on your smartphone or tablet. Simply sign in with Google using your Hudson account.

Items that you borrow on Sora are automatically returned when due. They also sync across all devices. You can begin reading an ebook on a Chromebook and continue reading it on an iPad. Items can be renewed when the due date is approaching. You can also place holds on items to ensure you get them if they are currently on loan.

Our Sora library recently added the ability to borrow books through the CLEVNET library collection. Visit the settings in Sora and "Add a public library." Search for CLEVNET. Voila! You can now borrow ebooks and audiobooks from the CLEVNET consortium as well as the HCSD collection. If you have memberships to other public libraries, you can also add them to your Sora settings.
