I added in the PTA dates so you could have a consolidated list. Please don't forget to send in a gallon sized bag of salt dough on Monday. If you are so inclined, send in extras just in case someone isn't able. I will try to make some extra as well.
We had so much fun celebrating Read Across America day and dressing up like our favorite Dr Seuss characters. Wait until you see the cute hot air balloons we are making.
The kids have been so flexible with weird schedule changes, carrying projects over into the time frames of other subjects we normally do, and living in a moving box war zone. Give them some compliments for handling it all.
We are one chapter away from completing Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I would love to show the movie next Friday on our early release day and school wide pajama day. I prefer the newer version with Johnny Depp because it follows the book more closely. It is rated PG so if anyone has an objection or concern please let me know.
The kids learned some square dance moves in PE this week. I think you may need to scoot back some furniture and let them teach the family how to dance this weekend.
We are busy bees trying to get all of our work ready for open house. I apologize now that this will not be the typical display I like to put out. Please be forgiving since we are in the middle of moving and renovations. The kids will have some things in the hall, on magnets in our class and a large paper bag of lots of fun goodies for you take home that show off their writing through the year and other activities. Thank you for your patience!
Have a wonderful weekend! Watch the weather! It is typical fickle Texas and it is going to be pretty cold. We need those coats and appropriate clothing for recess. Thanks!

WHAT WE ARE LEARNING
Language Arts-We are reading fairy tales, folktales and fables. We have been writing our own folktale and comparing different versions.
Social Studies-We are still looking at map skills, landforms and our earth.
Science-We are in the middle of all things weather. The kids should be expert weather watchers and be able to look at the clouds and predict the weather.
